Casting Lessons
The Fly Fisher’s Place offers private casting lessons for beginner and intermediate and advanced casters including Spey Casters.
We’ll cover the basics starting with the relationship between the plane of the rod and the line, the importance of the casting arc, and timing. We’ll also cover hand and arm posistions to keep you casting well and pain free.
For Intermediate and Advanced casters we offer a class that covers the Snap-T, Belgium Loop, Reach Mending, Wiggle and Parachute Casts. This class will advance you to new levels that will truly make a difference in your catch rate. Double Hauling lessons are also available.
We also offer private instuction for Spey Casting. This class covers the Snap-T, Double Spey, Perry Poke, Anchor Points and casting from either shoulder.
The Fly Fisher’s Place includes equipment for all of our students as part of the class.

Learn to Fly Fish either in a classroom and/or on the water
Fly Fishing 101 – This full day class is designed for anglers getting into fly fishing or who have fished a few times. The course content will introduce you to all the skills you need to get on the water from casting, to fly selection, to tying on flies. Cost is $100 for one angler. Class dates are: May 13 and July 15. Private classes on a date convenient for you can be scheduled for two to four anglers.
Fly Fishing 201 – This full day class is designed for anglers who have the general knowledge of fly fishing. You can tie on your flies, know how to distinguish the major aquatic insect families, and have a general understanding of where to fish. However, you want to know more! In this class I cover similar topic of Fly Fishing 101 but in greater depth. Class dates are: June 17. Private classes on a date convenient for you can be scheduled for two to four anglers.
First Cast – Our all day stream class is a full day of learning while on the water. Perfect for 1st time beginners or those with just the basics that want to learn more. We cover casting and presentation, mending, knot tying, reading the water, equipment and tackle, basic entomology and fly selection and a whole lot more!
This is a very popular class and is taught by the expert guides here at the Fly Fisher’s Place. All of these classes are private so you will not be forced into a group with a bunch of people you don’t know, and best of all you’ll get all the attention from the guide for an optimal learning experience.
Besides our basic stream class we also provide two classes for more advanced anglers looking to increase their skills.
First Cast Class: One to three people $450/ea. Includes all gear needed ( Rods, Reels, Flies, Waders, Boots), licenses are not included.
Fly Fishing 301 – If you are really serious about fly fishing and are willing to invest time – Fly Fishing 301 is for you. This is the quickest path to making you an independent angler. The integration of a full day in the classroom and our First Cast, a second full day on the water putting those skills to work will have you catching fish sooner and more frequently. Each student that takes 301 gets a 20% discount for 30 days at the Fly Fishers Place.
Mastering Spring Creeks
We offer an all day Mastering the Spring Creeks class on the Fall River. This class covers more advanced casting and presentation techniques required for tough spring creek trout.
Mastering Spring Creek Class: 1 or 2 person $425. Includes all gear needed ( Rods, Reels, Flies, Waders, Boots), licences are not included.
Euro Nymph Class
We also offer a European/Czech Nymphing Class that is unique and informative. Our instructors will cover presentation skills and rigging methods for Czech, French, Polish and Spanish methods. If you want to learn how to be more in touch with your nymphs, and what the difference between a sighter and an indicator are, this class is certainly for you.
Euro Nymph Class is for 1 or 2 people $425. Includes all gear needed ( Rods, Reels, Flies, Waders, Boots), licenses are not included.
