Not many march Browns this week, but good BWO’s and Caddis. I can’t imagine MB’s being over so I’d still be prepared for them.
Great nymph fishing, especially Czech style! Stonefly nymph with a Mayfly dropper is our first choice.
Don’t get too amped over this, but a few, (very few) Salmonflies were spotted below the confluence with Whychus this week. My feeling is the real hatch is still at least a week away.

Here’s another update; 4/20. This is for the Middle D near Bend. I fished Sawyer Park with a #8 Orange Chubby Chernobyl, with a soft hackle #14 Copper John 2 feet below it. In the more riffled water and pools, I had trout slam my dry, a sight to see. Most trout( Including a 14in Brown) took the dropper. Fishing should pick up around May 1st as the temps warm up in Bend, as well as emerging Salmonflies to the shoreline. Archie Briggs, Sawyer, and Tumalo State Park should have really good fishing come Monday May 2nd. Check out my Instagram( t_flyfisher.or), for future fishing reports and photos.
