CROOKED RIVER

The Crooked is a year round fishery for us, but is best from March to late October. Midges  and Scuds dominate the fishing action in December, January and February. By March, the BWO hatches begin as the water begins to warm, then we get PMD’s and Caddis throughout the summer and BWO’s and Mahogany Duns in the fall.

In the Summer, the water remains cold coming from the bottom of the reservoir. We fish hoppers and attractors here in the summer during non hatch periods. By Fall, fishing can really get “hot” again with great hatches coming off. We watch for high water releases in the spring on big snowpack years. Runoff here can last a week to over a month and usually starts in late March.

Prices for 1 or 2 people $425, 3 people $450

FALL RIVER

A true Spring Creek, the Fall offers  year round guiding opportunities for us. There are hatches all winter. We also fish little nymphs and large streamers. In the Spring and Summer there are always plenty of hatches to get the fish to look up. A nymph is a good way to stalk them too and there is no better stream in Oregon to sight fish for nice trout. In the Fall the fishing is very special here! Lots of fish and great hatches. We are limited by regulation to have no more than 3 guides working the Fall River per day.

Prices are $425 for 1 or 2 people

TENINO TO BULL BEND

This has become a favorite float for us because we can have clients fish right from the boat. An easy and gentle float that winds through the forest. The fish tend to use bank structure as their hideout but can also be found nymphing or streamer fishing the many runs that make up this stretch.

Browns and Rainbows averaging about 12 to 14 inches, with fish going up to 7 or 8 pounds are taken every season. Open May 26th to October 31st. October 15th is about the end of the guide season on this stretch. Limited to 2 people per boat.

Prices are $550 per boat.

WICKIUP TO CRANE PRAIRIE

This short stretch of river is not an area you’d fish all day but a good back up spot or “different” area to fish. Walk and Wade access only with lots of log jams. The water is often moving through here pretty fast so best for more experienced anglers. Browns and Rainbows with monster whitefish too. Good for a quick stop coming or going from another area. Short season from May 26th to August 31st.

Prices are $425 for 1 or 2.

LITTLE LAVA LAKE TO CRANE PRAIRIE

This area offers a lot of walk and wade opportunity and depending on water levels can be easy or challenging to wade. Plenty of small rainbows and brook trout along with good numbers of whitefish. A dry-dropper is a great way to fish this water.

Access is good from road 40 bridge upstream. There are also good turnouts off of the Cascade Lakes Highway. It is a good area to fish and worth the effort. Another lesser known option is float tubing the Blue Hole below Little Lava lake.

There is a small hike required through the trees so it’s not easy for all customers to do, but a strong fisherman who can carry a tube with pack straps will enjoy this area for nice brookies and rainbows in September. This has a short season. Open from May 26th to September 30th.

Prices are $425 for 1 or 2, $450 for 3.

EAST LAKE

Is the most consistent lake for fly fishing in our region. With good callibaetis action all summer and fall, good leech, chironomid, terrestrial and streamer fishing. Season runs from the last Saturday in April to October 31st but usually opens late due to snow blockage on the road.

Prices for a full day are: $500 for 1 or 2 anglers.

THREE CREEKS LAKE

The closest lake to the shop, Three Creeks is a gem! A high mountain lake with plenty of trout and good hatches. Season runs from the last Saturday in April to October 31st but usually opens late due to snow blockade on the road in.

Price is $375 for half day 1 or 2 people.

DAVIS LAKE

Davis offers the best largemouth Bass fishing in Central Oregon on a fly rod but is also a good trout lake. The Lake is open all year but is limited to access when snow blocks the road. The Best fishing is in the Spring after ice out but it stays good all season. In the Summer plan on early morning or late evening assaults for the best Bass action.

Prices are $500 for 1 or 2 all day.

WICKIUP RESERVOIR

Central Oregon’s 2nd largest reservoir has some amazing fishing opportunities. Sheeps Bridge area is one of our favorites but there are all kinds of coves to explore on this great lake. Season runs from the last Saturday in April to October 31st, except Sheeps Bridge area which closes on September 30th.

Prices for a full day are: $500 for 1 or 2 anglers.

CRANE PRAIRIE RESERVOIR

CP is another Bass/Trout Combo lake. This lake was created in the path of several rivers and creeks (Snow Cr., Quinn River, Cultus River, Deschutes River & Rock Cr.) and all the channel’s have good fishing. Crane is famous for its skeleton forests and the fish use the old trees for hide outs and feeding. This is the best chironomid fishing in the area and a 10 pound fish is likely. Season runs from the last Saturday in April to October 31st.

Prices for a full day are: $500 for 1 or 2 anglers.

LAVA LAKE

One of the better Trout Lakes on the Cascade Lakes Hwy, Lava offer excellent Rainbow Trout fishing after ice out and into early Summer. Fall fishing is also very good. Season  runs from the last Saturday in April to October 31st.

Prices for a full day are: $500 for 1 or 2 anglers.

LITTLE LAVA LAKE

Little Lava is a great lake for fly fishing and is protected from the weather a bit more than the big lakes. So, if it’s blowing too hard on the big lakes Little Lava is a great back up. The Rainbows here are hard fighters and the fishing is often good. Season runs from the last Saturday in April to October 31st.

Prices for a full day are: $500 for 1 or 2 anglers.

HOSMER LAKE

This is one of the most special lakes in Central Oregon. Stocked with Rainbow, Cutthroat and Brookies along with Atlantics this unique fishery is a special place to add to your list. Plenty of good dry fly fishing here with the best evening caddis hatches of any of the Cascade Lakes.

Season runs all year but is limited to winter conditions from November to May.

Prices are $500 for 1 or 2 all day, $375 for half day.

UPPER NORTH FORK OF THE SANTIAM

An easy 40 minute drive from the shop the N. Santiam is a very nice small mountain river with both stocked and native trout. During the summer and fall the North Fork is a good dry fly stream. Season runs from the last Saturday in April to October 31st. Snowmelt/runoff can push back the fishable season by several weeks.

Prices are $425 for 1 or 2 people, $450 for 3.

UPPER MCKENZIE

Another popular summer spot the Upper Mac is a good small stream with native trout. An easy drive from the shop. Season runs from the last Saturday in April to October 31st. Snowmelt/runoff can push back the fishable season by several weeks.

MCKENZIE RIVER

Our drift boat trips to the McKenzie happen here! This is a long stretch of river with several put-in’s and take-out’s giving us the option of finding the perfect drift. While we are advocating for this to become a Wild Trout only fishery, currently it is a mix of wild and stocked trout. On this float trip you will fish from the boat most of the time but there are also good wade fishing spots that we stop to cover the water. Season runs from last Saturday in April to October 31st.

Prices are $550 for 1 or 2 anglers.

CLEAR LAKE

Oregon’s coldest lake and also one of the most unique, Clear Lake was formed by a volcanic eruption that blocked the McKenzie River. We are allowed to guide Clear Lake only on weekday’s. Easy access from the shop and good summer fishing.
