From what I see on the Met and Whychus Salmon restoration is one pooor effort. I have let the word out that ODFG has not done a proper job of training it’s employees as to know what kind of salmon returns have happened this year. The man I spoke with at the Hatchery spoke of a “great ” return on hatchery sokeye salmon over “18 inches”. I have observed many tagged kokanee at Allingham bridge and I have noticed Portland Electric digitally monitoring counts just N of 99. These are k n ot Solkeye Salmon. He even had the gall to mention Spring Kings which do not exist so far…I was pleasant and politely mentioned that I was just a fly fisher dude from the local area. Wouldn’t it make more sense to possibly dry fly fish for Atlantic Salmon on the Met if they could make it? I think the dams would hinder this theory? Any thoughts much appreciated!
Thanks!
