With my up and down comment about fishing conditions (did I say “doldrums”, hahaha) I thought it would be fun to give you an update about how my friend Ron and I did today.
We started about 9 and worked up from Allingham Bridge to Camp Sherman. For the most part it was good with the Euro Nymph rod (I used my Echo Shadow X 10’ 3 weight today) and got a bunch of whitefish on Brown Perdigons with a light pink bead. Just before lunch some golden stones started to take flight and we saw some great crashing rises which told me the fish were looking for the big stoneflies. I switched to a Clark’s Stone #10 and got a really nice redside about 16” that smacked 4 naturals just before I was able to fool him.

We went to have sandwiches (and Chili Fritos ❤️) at the Camp Sherman store, visited with Eric a bit and then fished from Tract C Bridge to Lake Creek and got quite a few on a Clark’s for me, and a Stimulator for Ron.
All and all a good day on the Metolius and so glad to have Ron here visiting us from Idaho.
