A quick Update 9/4/25

Most importantly we are in the Green Zone (GOOD) for smoke here in Sisters and throughout Central Oregon. Today and last few days are glorious and perfect September days.
You might look at the weather forecast for Oregon next week and see rain in our forecast for a few days. This is such a good thing to see in the later summer as we transition to fall.
Fishing is good all over. Metolius is a highlight. Not a ton of Drakes yet but the hatch is isolated and will be popping hard soon. Plenty of other hatches to enjoy good dry fly action now.
I fished East and Paulina this week (and the Metolius) and all were good. The Beetle bite at Paulina was the best I’ve see this year, and no one is there. Callibaetis are still a strong force of the East Lake agenda and it is pretty quiet up there in terms of angler pressure.
Crooked River was really good yesterday for some friends and Carolina Phil (from the shop) was at Little Lava twice this week dialing in his new boat and had a ball!
I mentioned the smoke (and the fire) because the Portland News Stations painted an awful picture of how Sisters was during the fires and Sisters is just fine.
Summer is running out, and the best fall fishing is knocking on the corner. Don’t miss it.

Also, we have 1 to 3 Open Spots for our women’s only trip down the 3 day stretch of the Lower Deschutes. It offers 2 nights in our deluxe camp, Aarons cooking, great FFP team work helping you learn the essence of nymphing, swinging for steelhead, dialing in your spey cast, presenting a dry fly in an eddy. All in all this is a great time to be on the Deschutes and due to a cancellation of 2 of the ladies, and we already had 1 spot open. This is suitable for individuals or friends or couples. We’d love to have you join us.
$1500 per person for the 3 days including passes and permits and flies and rods to use during the trip.

The last 2 spots are open for Argentina Patagonia January 24-31, 2026. $4950 for a week of fishing with Jeff in San Martin de Los Andes. This is such a great trip and the best value in a fly fishing trip to Patagonia.

See you on the water and in the shop. Breathe the fresh air here and come fishing.
