This shocked me, but after last winter I am gun shy about the Crooked with all the persistent high water that began in December and last well into spring. Even with the heavy rains the inflow to the reservoir only went from 106 cfs to 436 cfs, and BOR held outflow to 100 cfs! The … Continue reading Crooked River update is good too! 12/20/25

The Metolius looks good and very fishable. Focus on stonefly nymphs, tungsten Eggs, October Caddis Pupa , tan Caddis Pupa, blue Perdigon, Slum Lords and Soccer Moms. For Bulls fish a sink tip with articulated streamers. It’s nice to update this with positive news from the river! Go fish.
A “mostly high water” fishing report 12/19/25
It is mostly a wash-out throughout the entire Pacific NW with very few fishable rivers. The one that is still fishable for sure is the Fall River, and I am not sure I trust the gauges on the Crooked but the internet says the flow from Bowman Dam remains 100 cfs. What makes me question … Continue reading A “mostly high water” fishing report 12/19/25

Jeff’s Thanksgiving Week Fishing Report 11/22/25
In a week dominated by food, family and football, add another "f" to the week and go fishing. Heck, add another "f" this week for fun. Fun. Fishing is good on a lot of the local waters and should remain so until we really get a different weather pattern. If I am not fishing, I … Continue reading Jeff’s Thanksgiving Week Fishing Report 11/22/25

Hello from Central Oregon, where it is still great fishing weather and with perfect water conditions. The Lower Deschutes has been a little foggy the last 2 mornings, but the other waters have been mostly sunny with some breeze, occasional light showers and above average warmth for the season. It looks like Monday the freezing … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Report 11/15/25
Jeff’s fishing report 11/8/2025
Good morning from Sisters, Oregon. It is absolutely beautiful here this weekend and the weather looks good for the forecast into mid-week, and possibly longer. It will be a great week on the water and just to be out and about in the woods, near the water watching the birds and listening to the sounds … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 11/8/2025
Jeff’s Fishing Report 11/1/25
Today marks my 34th year since I took over ownership of the Fly Fisher's Place in 1991. What a ride, in business, in life, in fishing, in learning, in friendships and in losses. I take nothing for granted, and I can tell you that in the early and mid-years of this journey that some of … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Report 11/1/25
