East Lake Callibaetis update 8/17/25

August 17, 2025flyfishersplace

Today was the day I’ve been hoping for, and waiting to see again. A good and consistent Callibaetis hatch came off about 1 and lasted for about an hour and a half. We landed about 10 on a comparadun and one on a film critic when the hatch just got started. Then it was duns … Continue reading East Lake Callibaetis update 8/17/25

Jeff’s fishing report 8/15/25

August 16, 2025August 16, 2025flyfishersplace

Hello from Sisters. Saturday is going to be a busy day between casting lessons, shop work and finishing filling up my last spots for Argentina and Belize trips. I am currently being serenaded by some kind of a horn outside the office window. I know that left you hanging so I got up and looked … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 8/15/25

East Lake Callibaetis 8/10/25

August 10, 2025flyfishersplace

If you read yesterday’s fishing report you saw I was lamenting that I have not seen many good dry fly days on my favorite lakes, especially with Callibaetis hatches. Next week I’ll write about not winning the lottery because it may the rule of reverse psychology. This morning we had good Callibaetis spinner fall dry … Continue reading East Lake Callibaetis 8/10/25

Jeff’s fishing report 8/2/25

August 2, 2025August 2, 2025flyfishersplace

How in the world can it be August? Summer 2025 is flying by and all of the staff at FFP are all busy. There are days when we have too many guide trips and not enough people to cover the shop. It is a whirlwind, which is fun, and I am thankful for the good … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 8/2/25

Jeff’s Fishing Reports and Random Stories 7/25/25

July 25, 2025July 25, 2025flyfishersplace

A few weeks ago I told you I’d tell stories about “hooks in different parts of the body” stories, and here is one today that involves my own very tender 7th grader middle finger. The other story involves a clients ear and a trip to the ER. I’ll tell the ear story next week. Here’s the … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Reports and Random Stories 7/25/25

Jeff’s fishing report July 19, 2025 + Lost Rod Alert

July 19, 2025July 19, 2025flyfishersplace

Last week I wrote about the summer work schedule, and it reminded me of a special conversation I had with our long time (legendary) guide Steve Erickson in the parking lot beside the shop, after we both got off the water for the day. He had just come off the water from a marathon of … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report July 19, 2025 + Lost Rod Alert

East Lake water temps along the shoreline

July 14, 2025flyfishersplace

Hi trout lovers, I hope to share this with enough people that we can all agree to be kind to our fish and make good choices when the water temps rise on our favorite lake (lakes). East Lake is one of the best shoreline fishing lakes we have in Central Oregon, and it often provides … Continue reading East Lake water temps along the shoreline

Jeff’s 4th of July Fishing Report and casting tips!

July 4, 2025July 4, 2025flyfishersplace

I have been around the sport of fly fishing since 1980, and developed an early passion for a lot of different elements of the sport, starting with fly tying and by time I reached high school my ultimate passion was technical spring creek fishing. Over the years my passion for technical spring creek fishing never … Continue reading Jeff’s 4th of July Fishing Report and casting tips!

(the getting ready for the Holiday Week) Fishing Report 6/28/25

June 28, 2025June 28, 2025flyfishersplace

Hello from the office of the world headquarters of FFP. I am tucked away in the chair Phil used all the years he was at the helm of this office, and I think of him every time I sit here. Besides being a student of fly fishing, he was one of my most loyal friends. … Continue reading (the getting ready for the Holiday Week) Fishing Report 6/28/25
