Jeff’s all original fishing report 10/5/24

October 5, 2024October 5, 2024flyfishersplace

Hi gang, if you follow my reports you know I get frustrated with the USFS and their handling of our public docks and other facilities. As you know, this issue dropped to a low point this last week when the crew responsible for docks took them out of every lake in our region at the … Continue reading Jeff’s all original fishing report 10/5/24

Forest Circus removed docks and shut bathrooms 10-1-24

October 1, 2024flyfishersplace

I can’t believe that we arrived to Paulina today and docks have been removed. There is an entire damn month of fishing season left! Who remembers when the values of Central Oregon were cool and agencies made sure facilities coincided with our seasonal openings and closures? I do. It’s just been a few years of … Continue reading Forest Circus removed docks and shut bathrooms 10-1-24

All Things being Equal Fishing Report 9/21/24

September 21, 2024September 21, 2024flyfishersplace

Officially, Fall arrives this weekend. The Sun will cross the (celestial) Equator at 8:44 AM Sunday, turning our lives to Pumpkin Patches, Football games, the best of the best Major League Baseball (go Padres) and about 8 more weeks of very dynamic fishing around the home waters. For my friends in Chile and Argentina who … Continue reading All Things being Equal Fishing Report 9/21/24

September 14, 2024September 14, 2024flyfishersplace

If you read the report from last week, and then read the updates that I had to make as lightning caused fires got worse & worse, you know Central Oregon endured a crazy time last week. Thankfully, the worst of it seems to be behind us, and now it truly seems that Fall weather has … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing reports, the good, the bad & the ugly 9/14/24

Friggen Fires around the lakes 9/8/24

September 8, 2024flyfishersplace

Just got a report that there is a new fire at Little Lava that is 100 acres from lightning storms the last 2 days. No closure notices as of 10:15 am at Lava areas. Fire near Hosmer, but not closed at Hosmer although I would be a bit nervous being so close. Sparks, Todd and … Continue reading Friggen Fires around the lakes 9/8/24

The Masking Hatch.... If you are fishing the Metolius this time of year, this is a term you need to know. I was first introduced the term in 1986 when I was working at the Fly Box in Bend and the iconic 3M Scientific Anglers Strategies for Selective Trout and Advanced Strategies for Selective Trout … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Reports for September 7, 2024

August 17, 2024August 17, 2024flyfishersplace

Other than the predicted afternoon thunderstorm today, we are sitting pretty here in Central Oregon with the weather. We had a cold day on the lakes Thursday where we had to bundle up a bit, but the good news is the persistent heat wave has faded away and now we just have gorgeous fishing weather … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Updates August 17th, 2024

What a week we had at FFP.
