From the area just upstream of Bend down thru town and into Tumalo and Lower Bridge there is some fishing to be had. Above town the water is pretty low, and below town (Bend) the water is pretty high at the moment. We are seeing some Skawlas and Little Black Stones out and fish taking … Continue reading Middle Deschutes Report 3/13/17
From Tumalo to Lake Billy Chinook fishing is good. Pale Evening Duns, Purple Haze, PMD's, Caddis, Rusty Spinners and Float-n-Fool's are great on top. Frenchie, Soft Hackle PT, Hares Ear, Pale Yellow Euro Jig and Micro Mayfly's under the surface. Czech nymphing is the best!
Salmonfly hatch is still on, golden's too. PMD's, March Browns, PED's, Caddis, Purple Haze, Float-n-Fool and Renegades. Czech Style nymphing is great. Euro Nymphs and Soft Hackle Pheasant Tails.
Salmonflies have made it up to Bend and even up towards the Inn of the 7th Mountain area. So from there all the way down to Steelhead Falls and below to the Lake (LBC) in most places you'll find the big bugs. Pale Evening Duns and Caddis are hatching too, and in some areas will … Continue reading Middle D update 5/3/16
Not many march Browns this week, but good BWO's and Caddis. I can't imagine MB's being over so I'd still be prepared for them. Great nymph fishing, especially Czech style! Stonefly nymph with a Mayfly dropper is our first choice. Don't get too amped over this, but a few, (very few) Salmonflies were spotted below … Continue reading Middle Deschutes Report 4/21/16
Water is low and clear making for easy access and good fishing and wading conditions. March Browns, BWO's and even a few Pale Evening Duns hatching now. Great nymph fishing with little mayfly nymphs, copper john, pale yellow jig, rainbow warrior and skinny nelsons.
Water is a little high, but fishable. by this time next week it should be much better with water levels coming down as canals turn on for the season. March Browns and BWO's are hatching well.
The water is still pretty high making access tough in most places. My recommendation is to wait for the canals to turn on between 4/10 and 4/20 and things will be much improved. Look for March Browns then too. Heard of a great BWO hatch at Lower Bridge 3 days ago, but hardly any trout … Continue reading Middle Deschutes Fishing Report 3/31/16
I am surprised people are catching fish in this high of water but they are. Depending on where you access, its been good on Girdle Bugs and other heavy Stonefly Nymphs and Sculpins. Droppers like the Purple Psycho Prince and Flash Back PT are good, and the Jig Style Possie Bugger is a smart choice … Continue reading Middle Deschutes report 3/11/16
The water is quite high but I am always encouraged how many customers have little pockets they can get into at this water level. Some guys are already bringing fish up on March Browns and #12 or #14 Purple Haze dries. Not much of a hatch yet, in fact most of the best MB hatches … Continue reading Middle Deschutes fishing report 3/5/16
