Lower Deschutes Fishing Report 3/5/16

Water levels and perhaps more importantly water temperatures are getting in great shape for spring.

Once the water temps get over 50 the trout really get on the bite in the spring. Down at the mouth the temp is 48 and at Warm Springs it is 46.

Stonefly Nymphs and big prince nymphs are working well for a point, and copper john, hares ear, PT and caddis worms are good for droppers.

Not seeing any March Browns quite yet. Some caddis and BWO’s are on now.

Swinging sculpins and leeches on a sink tip is a good way to target fish now.

DO NOT FISH OVER SPAWNING FISH. Seriously, don’t do it. Steelhead are spawning, redsides are beginning to show some spawning behavior and it’s just not cool to fish for, or wade over these fish.
