Fall River fishing report 3/11/16

Fall River has been pretty impressive. Much better than the last 2 years at this time.

Right now the midge and BWO hatch is really good from late morning to about 2 PM. You may see a second wave late afternoon and into early evening on warmer days. 7X fluorocarbon tippet is a game changer. Yep, you can do it with 6x but you’ll rise more on 7X.

Nymph action during the day is a hoot. I’ve been targeting specific fish, but you can just run a tungsten or jig style fly thru the deeper slots and along the ledges and pick up fish.

I’m off to Christmas Island tomorrow so web updates may not happen until 3/24. Give Kyle, Steve or Mary Ann a call at the shop for updates. I expect this report to be relevant thru March and into April with no changes to hatches until much later in April.
