Metolius River fishing report 12/28/16

Come get it while it’s good! Pretty active afternoon baetis hatches the last few days and very good nymphing for trout and whitefish for the last week or so.

Golden Stone Nymphs, Depth Charge Nymphs, 2 Bit’s, Caddis Pupa, Zebra Midges, Eggs, Blue Prince, Batman and Red Lightning Bug.

Bull Trout are active and are being aggressive on streamers.

It looks like from today (Wednesday) thru Sunday are the best opportunities with cold weather coming Monday of next week. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the low to mid 40’s. How nice for December.
There is a lot of snow on the banks but it has been awhile since any new snow fell, so there are trails along the river (not great trails, but better than forging through 2 feet of snow and being first). Best access at the Hatchery and Allingham Bridge downstream.
