Metolius River Fishing Report 4/3/17

Overall the fishing has been good on nymphs this week. The water levels are still a little high, but it is clear and very fishable.

Golden Stones and Eggs have been working well. Zebra Midges, Lightning Bugs, Caddis Pupa, Possie Buggers (w/rubber legs), 2 Bit Hookers and 3 Dollar Dips are all good patterns now and have been catching fish.

This is the time of year the Cinygmula Mayflies begin. It is a slow start. Not surprising with the higher water. Be prepared though with a #14 to 16 Yellow Comparadun or Knock Down Dun (I prefer the Z-Lon winged version for Cinygmula’s). BWO’s are coming off but few fish looking up. If you are in the right eddy at the right time you should see a fish or two rising.
