Crooked River pretty frozen 12/6/18

The Cold Snap with the night time lows in the single digits and day time highs not getting above freezing have iced up the Crooked pretty good. Sure, there is some open water, but the water is really cold and the metabolic rate of everything living in there is in near hibernation mode.
If you decide to go, whitefish eggs and zebra midges will be your best bets and you may even see a few risers between 3 and 4 in the slow, open areas down closer to Prineville.
Next week looks like we will see some 40’s again so it may open up, but for now I’d do the Fall or the Metolius.
