Metolius River fishing report 1/15/19

January has been good on the Metolius with decent afternoon BWO hatches, some little black stones (which should get going more in a week or so), Midges, October Caddis and Silver Stripe Sedge. The fish are looking for Nymphs, Emergers and Adults of all of the above so the fishing is active.
The standby Golden Stone (we’ve got some amazing nymphs, but the McGee’s Girdle is really hot for Golden Stone and October Caddis) with a Egg or Nymph dropper is always productive.
Other favorite nymphs are the Blue Prince, Red Lighting Bug, Zebra Midge, Perdigons, Jigs and Micro Mayflies.

Bull Trout Fishing has been quite good, with fish coming to Streamers and Red Nymphs and WORMS. Try it . We’ve got a new Tan and Pink Squirmy that is a fish catcher. Run it under a Yarn Indicator about 4 feet on 3x or 4x. Streamer action has been best on sink tips. We like 5 feet of T12 usually.
