The water temps are cold so the fish are hitting very light. Be prepared for that. But, fishing is pretty good anyway.
Tiny midge nymphs are going to still be bread and butter for another few weeks, but add some tiny dark mayfly nymphs, scuds and Ray Charles to your box too.
Fish have been nosing up to dries in the afternoon: Griffiths Gnat, Purple Haze, Palomino Midge, Adams and even a smattering of BWO’s. It’s mostly midges over mayflies until mid-March usually. We’re talking #18-24 flies, so don’t forget your 7x tippet.
The River is good all the way from the Dam down to where private ranches start about Mile Post 11.
Been very successful with turbo midges, zebras and scuds. Have fun out there and respect the space around others as the pressure builds with these warm winter days 😉
