Afternoon dry hatches of BWO’s continue to hatch around noon to 2, most hatch durations are 30 to 45 minutes during that 2 hour block. Sparkle Dun and EP Duns have been our go to lately, but you know there a ton of great mayfly patterns for the Met and the fish can get choosey.
We are seeing quite a few caddis, the ones that seem most predominate are little amber colored caddis, which seem a little smaller than the normal Silver Stripe Sedge we see this time of year. That said, the fish are eating the pupa and we are getting some fish on an orange Elk Hair Caddis in a #14.
Nymhing is outstanding. Both Euro and Indicator nymphing. Golden Stones, Perdigons, Red Copper John and Red Lightning Bug, small Hares Ears, Realistic Pupa, Sparkle Pupa, Micro Mayfly and Eggs.
Bull Trout have been best on nymphs, but we love the hunt and the take a streamer day can provide.
