Just a quick update from Yesterday morning when I wrote the report, the Middle Deschutes jumped from under 70cfs to the 254cfs. Still fishable at 254 for sure, but it is a jump and probably throws off the fish for a day or so.
The Crooked River bumped up to 418cfs. I do believe it will come up more in the next few days so we will keep watching it and hope it stays fishable. IMO, at over 350, especially at over 400 it becomes difficult to wade, likely impossible to cross for most of us, and the turbidity is such you can’t see the bottom at all so make sure you have good studs and sturdy wading staff and let’s look at the week of May 12 and beyond for the river to be in better shape (my guess).
It is a WINDY and cold day across Central Oregon. Probably a good day to tie flies and get ready for better days coming soon.
