Fishing Updates from the Opener and some rods for sale

Quite a few of you asked about the Winston rods I was listing as mentioned in the last report….Sorry I got delayed on the listings!!! I sold 2 in the shop, and just listed 4 which I will post links to below.

For the opener several of the shop guys hit the Warm Springs to Trout Creek section on the Lower Deschutes and reported good fishing. Mattias said the trout wanted to eat stonefly nymphs all day. Every hole and every run was full of steelhead smolts and they ate anything small, so one way to weed out the small guys was to go with the bigger nymphs.

Some of the most important news comes from the lake side of things:
Hosmer is ice free, it is snowy getting to the ramp but it is doable.
Crane Prairie of course got the permanent dock at the Crane Prairie Boating Site last season, so that dock is in, but Quinn River access is wide open.

It sounds like USFS is going to install the permanent dock at Paulina Lake on 5/4/26 and that the dock is already in at Little Crater according to Dawn Stender the Monument Manager in the Bend Fort Rock Ranger District office in Bend. So when the Deschutes County Road Dept clears the road and opens the gate next week we are going to get off to a great start.

I so not have any news for access to Little Lava, but I know USFS had installed the Lava Lake dock but access remains locked by the gate until the concessionaire opens the campground in Mid May.

Wickiup Docks are in and ready to use.

This is all good news and thank you to the USFS team who is on it early this season. Plus, those new permanent docks are going to be so nice moving forward for us and for them.

Let me know if you want any more info on these rods and thanks to those of you that contacted me and got the list before I was able to get it up on the site.

Also, don’t forget we have quite a few T&T Euro Nymph rods, and some Sage Sonics and Redingtons on the sale rack now too.

See you on the water or in the shop,

Jeff
