I realize for some of you that fishing is the furthest thing from your mind as you may be evacuated from your homes, or watching your property as evacuation notices could go either way.

For those friends who are here visiting, or not affected by this situation you’ll be happy to know that the blue skies are out on the Metolius and smoke/AQI are yellow, just like in Black Butte Ranch and at the fly shop in Sisters today.

An afternoon session on the Metolius with golden stones, PMDs, tan Caddis and ants and beetles is in the cards.

Three Creek Lake is a great spot for the day too. Callibaetis hatches this afternoon with ants and beetles being next up on the list, damsels and leeches and in the dusky skies of evening black Caddis and midges. However the wind forecast for the mountains tonight will probably put the kibosh on evening hatches.

Heading to the Crooked and Fall River are certainly doable. Crooked is smoky but Fall River at this time is also yellow and nice.

We are more hopeful today. It’s far from over but the fact that the fire is the highest priority fire in Oregon is a big help to our community. There are a lot of resources here fighting it and we extend our thanks to the men and women on the lines and logistical coordination getting us through this disaster.

We plan to move all of the inventory back to the shop tomorrow morning as long as this continues on the path that it is this morning.
