Do you know the song by Johnny Cash that says How high's the water, Mama? Two feet high and risin'How high's the water papa? She said it's two feet and risin'.... I feel like the next few days or longer are going to be a Johnny Cash song. the River bumped again today to over 500. The … Continue reading Crooked River and Johnny Cash

A sunday update on water conditions 5/5/24

May 5, 2024May 5, 2024flyfishersplace

Just a quick update from Yesterday morning when I wrote the report, the Middle Deschutes jumped from under 70cfs to the 254cfs. Still fishable at 254 for sure, but it is a jump and probably throws off the fish for a day or so. The Crooked River bumped up to 418cfs. I do believe it … Continue reading A sunday update on water conditions 5/5/24

Read this report because I am 100% sure the really good stuff is jut a few days away. 4/27/24 Fishing Report and Updates

April 27, 2024April 27, 2024flyfishersplace

Good afternoon from a cloudy and cool Sisters, Oregon. 49 degrees and grey. No wind though so that is a plus. Despite being a little cooler than average ice is coming off the lakes and it looks like soon we will see openings at Lava and Little Lava. USFS reports they are going to start … Continue reading 4/27/24 Fishing Report and Updates

It is a special time of the year when 4/22 rolls around. Every year is filled with excitement and anticipation, like waiting for Santa on Christmas Vacation. 4/5/24 Fishing and Conditions Updates

April 5, 2024April 5, 2024flyfishersplace

Let's start with the news about high water flows on a couple of our rivers. The Crooked River is cooking at over 1300 cfs today, and will probably be high for over a week at this point. Normal flows are about 250 cfs. Over 500 cfs and we don't go. Prineville Reservoir is 99% full … Continue reading 4/5/24 Fishing and Conditions Updates

Crooked River is blowing out 3/29/24

March 29, 2024flyfishersplace

My fears of high water at the Crooked River were realized this afternoon as BOR bumped the flows as the reservoir is almost full. I’m guessing that we are going to see high water for 10-14 days. If it stabilizes around 500 or 600 cfs it’ll fine to fish in a few days. Let’s keep … Continue reading Crooked River is blowing out 3/29/24

Mid Week Update 3/27/24

March 27, 2024March 27, 2024flyfishersplace

My good friend Chester shared this report with me from the Crooked River and I wanted to share it with you. Drove out to the Crooked on Sunday, and found a nicely flowing river. It was the color of green tea with a tiny bit of milk mixed in. It was at about 180 or … Continue reading Mid Week Update 3/27/24
