Paulina Lake — Central Oregon Fly Fishing

I have to admit until the summer of 2020 that I hadn’t fished Paulina Lake since the 80’s. Always on a mission to East Lake, I’d drive by, and wrongly assume it didn’t hold a candle to East.

During the summer of 2020 I made a promise to myself to go learn new waters and to stop going to the same places all the time. What I learned was Paulina was every bit and more the angling experience of any of the local lakes.

While it doesn’t have the amazing hatches of some of the other lakes, it makes up for it with strong action using terrestrials and attractors on the shoreline and little nymphs and leeches in the drop off zones.

It became one of my favorite lakes to fish and guide on in 2020 and I’m sure will be for years to come.
