October 15, 2023 fishing report

October 15, 2023October 15, 2023flyfishersplace

Did you catch the eclipse yesterday? I missed it, although it did get a bit dark here at the house in Sisters for a bit, I wonder how the lakes fished when that event happened? I remember the 2017 eclipse and being over at our guide Mary Ann's house with a whole bunch of fellow … Continue reading October 15, 2023 fishing report

What are you going to do today on this last really warm day of the forecast period (and likely last day of 80 degrees for 2023 in Oregon)?I hope you are going fishing!Even if you miss today, there is so much to talk about, a lot to look forward to, and some things that have … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 10/8/23

October 1, 2023 Fishing Report

October 1, 2023October 1, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

A month of general trout season left. It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the openings (April 22 and May 22) and time is flying faster than a Tim Rajeff double haul. I do love fall fishing, and the fact of the matter is there is so much year round angling here it shouldn't matter … Continue reading October 1, 2023 Fishing Report

Happy Fall to you. Fall always brings up great memories of spectacular days on desert rivers and mountain lakes, from the Steens to the Cascades and down the Deschutes to chase both trout and steelhead, Fall is quite possibly the greatest time to fish here. What do you think? I had a good week on … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing update 9/23/23

A little rain, some clouds, no smoke and a cool day here in Central Oregon. It is simply glorious! And the fishing is hot all over the area. August 23, 2023August 23, 2023flyfishersplace

A long day, but happy to be here after guiding all day, and then switching out the Koffler Drift Boat from a Hosmer Lake special (Minn Kota motor, lake size anchors, fish finder and a whole lotta lake tackle) to a Deschutes Boat for tomorrow. Tomorrow is my first of about 15 trips this Fall … Continue reading Fishing report and Metolius Clean Up Day UPDATES

Hot Week Fishing Report and Advice on how to handle it 8/14/2023

August 14, 2023August 14, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Hello from Neskowin, Oregon where we are beating the heat a bit. We came this way with intentions for fishing out of a dory in Pacific City today, but the ocean conditions are proving too rough for a comfortable trip out on the big pond, so there will be no fishing today. We will make … Continue reading Hot Week Fishing Report and Advice on how to handle it 8/14/2023

August 5, 2023August 5, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Good morning from Sisters, Oregon where we are having a gorgeous and not too hot, nor too smokey summer. Oh sure, a few hotter days here and there, and a couple of smokey days a while ago, but it's been awfully nice for the most part. And the fishing is going great overall throughout the … Continue reading August 5th, 2023 fishing report
