July 20, 2023July 20, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Hey gang, The lakes are starting the morning in the safe zone for water temps, but the afternoons may prove different so with the water temps, especially in the shallow zones so many of us like to fish and move if it gets above 68, or call it a day if you can't find new … Continue reading Voluntary Hoot Owl on the Lakes/Watch H2O Temps

Jeff’s fishing report July 14th, 2023

July 14, 2023July 14, 2023flyfishersplace 3 Comments

Sorry I missed last week. Not a lot of change from when I wrote the 4th of July report, but I just didn't have the time or the band width last week with a sick dog and some boat motor stuff to deal with. I am back with a new report and have a lot … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report July 14th, 2023

4th of July Week Fishing Report (7/1/23)

July 1, 2023July 1, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Summer finally arrived. I wore shorts for the 1st time while guiding this week, and didn't freeze my legs off when launching the boat. I love this time of year. And, best of all, the fishing is good in all the venues. The holiday weekend, and the upcoming Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show are busy times for … Continue reading 4th of July Week Fishing Report (7/1/23)

Rolling into the last week of June, with the 4th of the July on the near horizon makes me remember we are in the heart of the summer fishing season. There are a lot of good things to report, but I do … Continue reading Fishing Reports and Updates for the last week in June 2023

Fishing Reports and Updates for Mid-June 2023

June 17, 2023June 17, 2023flyfishersplace 2 Comments

A whole bunch of good stuff to talk about this week, but I will start with the bad news. A strong cold front is sweeping through Central Oregon beginning tonight and the weather on the lakes (anything above 5000 feet) looks atrocious. Snow. Wind. More wind. This weather patterns is not unusual for mid-June, as … Continue reading Fishing Reports and Updates for Mid-June 2023

The goods for you! 6/10/23 Fishing Report

June 10, 2023June 10, 2023flyfishersplace

Plenty of good stuff to discuss this week, from the big rivers to the small streams and the lakes throughout the region. The Metolius is fishing good, but the drake hatch is still not what we'd expect to see for being through the 1st week of june and marching towards mid-june. Will it increase in … Continue reading The goods for you! 6/10/23 Fishing Report

Fishing Report for June 5th, 2023

June 5, 2023June 5, 2023flyfishersplace

Oh man did we get pounded by a hail storm up on the lakes today. My guiding partner & good friend Steve and I both ended up in the woods with our customers, all hunkering under some trees to not get pounded by what ended up being a half an hour of a hard hail … Continue reading Fishing Report for June 5th, 2023

Lakes update for the 1st of June

May 31, 2023flyfishersplace 2 Comments

East Lake is ok, seems to be in a bit of a turnover with murkier water, plus a lot of rainbows on the bank lines going through spawning motions. Water temps high 40’s to lower 50’s. Today we got all of our fish (around 12) on black balanced leeches. I think it’s good to fish, … Continue reading Lakes update for the 1st of June

Good news, Rivers are DROPPING 5/24/23

May 24, 2023May 24, 2023flyfishersplace 2 Comments

Wow the rivers are dropping and clearing fast. Good to see for the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend. The Lower Deschutes now has about 3 feet of clarity and clearing, and has dropped to well below 5000 cfs. The Salmonfly and Goldenstone hatches are going to rip for the next 2 weeks! PMD's and Caddis are … Continue reading Good news, Rivers are DROPPING 5/24/23
