Dang rain! 683 cfs today. Too high. let's hope it drops for the weekend.
Good news on the Crooked in terms of water levels. Yesterday it was 270, this morning 260 and now it is 207 which is below normal summer flows. It looks great and I was nervous with the rain they might bump it up, but it is very fishable. Our guides, especially Mary Ann and Adam … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 5/16/19
Mary Ann has been spending a bunch of time on the Crooked and finding the fishing to be really pretty good. Here is the latest report from her trip 2 days ago. She is guiding there again today and has been spending personal days there as much as possible getting the rhythm of the river … Continue reading Crooked River fishing 5/9/19
Hard to believe the water is still in the high 400's, but the reservoir is 100% full and they are letting out about what is coming in. Makes sense. The fishing is actually good, a little different than fishing it at normal summer flow which is about 250 cfs but it's not bad wading and … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 5/7/19
Looking way better today at 409 cfs and with a pretty moderate flow of just over 600 coming into the reservoir. The reservoir is 100% full so a big rain is going to screw it up fast. Keep that in mind. So, nymphing is going to be the best bet now. You can go with … Continue reading Crooked down to 400 cfs 5/1/19
Fiddlesticks! Bumped to over 700 cfs. We will keep watching it. But I wouldn't fish it at this level. Too damn high.
this is the 1st time in a while I've written "fishing" in the report. While the river is still not at the perfect level, it came down so much it is definitely fishable today at 450'ish cfs. We prefer the Crooked in the range of flow from 75 to 275 cfs. So 450 is still … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 4/24/19
Our guides Mary Ann and Troy were on the Crooked this week and both had good days of fishing but were there on different days and saw totally different things based on the day. The spring BWO hatch is on, but if the weather is cold and the water temp drops it seems the hatch … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 3/22/19
Heading East towards Redmond and Prineville gets you out of the deep snow (on the Metolius and Fall), but not totally....there is some snow left in the Crooked River canyon around Bowman Dam. I'd bet by the weekend, or sometime next week the snow will be gone out there. that bodes well for a nice … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 3/12/19
I've been hearing from a few customers the Crooked is improving, which probably means the water temperatures have risen a little bit. I had one customer come back in for BWO's and he said they were rising well to a hatch. That surprised me! But it might have been an isolated incident. March will be … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 2/15/19
