Hosmer Lake

Hosmer Lake update 5/29/22

May 28, 2022flyfishersplace 1 Comment

If you’re up for a snowy walk and can carry a float tube, or drag a small boat with your fishing buddy, Hosmer is just getting opened up. There’s a lot of snow up to and down the road, the parking lot is covered, and the ramp is snowed in. Boat Ramp at Hosmer This … Continue reading Hosmer Lake update 5/29/22

Memorial Day 2022 Fishing Report and Updates

May 28, 2022May 28, 2022flyfishersplace

Good morning from beautiful Sisters, Oregon. We woke up at home, which was unplanned as we had intended to camp on the Metolius for a few nights. But camping in the rain is not a ton of fun, especially in a small trailer with dogs. So hopefully next weekend we will get to the river … Continue reading Memorial Day 2022 Fishing Report and Updates

An exciting fishing report 5/21/2022

May 21, 2022May 21, 2022flyfishersplace

Here we are, May 21st and it's been a weird start to the fishing season since April. Mostly due to snow up in the lakes and wind and cold weather down on the rivers. Is that about to change? For a while it looks like and that is why I think this is going to … Continue reading An exciting fishing report 5/21/2022

Hosmer Lake still snowed in 5/16/22

May 16, 2022flyfishersplace

I decided to drive up and take a look, in the interest of the reports, and that I have guide trips booked at Hosmer starting tomorrow. Elk Lake was still frozen over completely. That leads me to think Hosmer is too. I can’t tell because the access road off the Cascade Lakes Highway is still … Continue reading Hosmer Lake still snowed in 5/16/22

Jeff’s fishing report 5/15/2022

May 15, 2022May 15, 2022flyfishersplace 4 Comments

First off, I am sorry I missed a week. I was in Mexico catching baby tarpon and when I got home I honestly felt like I didn't have enough information to provide a good and accurate report. Now, having been home for a week, getting some time on the water, and time in the fly … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 5/15/2022

Fly Fisher’s Update 4/30/22

April 29, 2022April 29, 2022flyfishersplace 2 Comments

April came and went (almost) with a lot of blessings and luck. We are now sitting at 103% in the Deschutes Basin and 142% for the McKenzie. Some delayed openings (pushed back to more of what we will call normal) on some high lakes, but we will take that with glee, joy, answered prayers and … Continue reading Fly Fisher’s Update 4/30/22

10/23/2021 fishing report & update

October 23, 2021October 23, 2021flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Good morning from the rainy Oregon coast. It appears some of this rain is headed over to the rest of the state for the next few days too. Hallelujah, we need that water, and I hope it just keeps coming and coming. I am pretty sure this storm is going to be about the end … Continue reading 10/23/2021 fishing report & update

Jeff’s fishing report 10/16/21

October 16, 2021October 16, 2021flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Holy cow what a great couple of October days we are getting yesterday and today. I guided the Fall River yesterday in Sunshiney bliss and today I am headed to the Metolius with my friend Mike, hopefully for a good afternoon session of dry fly action. I hope you are getting out and enjoying these … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 10/16/21

Jeff’s fishing report/update 10/11/21

October 11, 2021October 11, 2021flyfishersplace 2 Comments

Hello on a cool, breezy October Monday. Monday? I know, it's late and I apologize. I had guide trips over the weekend and just didn't have time to blog until now. There is plenty to talk about, including an apology on my part for not choosing the best way to express myself on some frustrations … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report/update 10/11/21

Jeff’s fishing report and more (10/2/21)

October 2, 2021October 5, 2021flyfishersplace 2 Comments

It's Folk Festival weekend in Sisters. I got home from my guide trip last night and we headed out on the town to listen to some great music. All the town is a stage and it feels vibrant and good here. We are lucky. We are also lucky to have so much good fishing here, … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report and more (10/2/21)
