Hot Week Fishing Report and Advice on how to handle it 8/14/2023

August 14, 2023August 14, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Hello from Neskowin, Oregon where we are beating the heat a bit. We came this way with intentions for fishing out of a dory in Pacific City today, but the ocean conditions are proving too rough for a comfortable trip out on the big pond, so there will be no fishing today. We will make … Continue reading Hot Week Fishing Report and Advice on how to handle it 8/14/2023

August 5th, 2023 fishing report

August 5, 2023August 5, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Good morning from Sisters, Oregon where we are having a gorgeous and not too hot, nor too smokey summer. Oh sure, a few hotter days here and there, and a couple of smokey days a while ago, but it's been awfully nice for the most part. And the fishing is going great overall throughout the … Continue reading August 5th, 2023 fishing report

July 22 Rivers Report and Updates

July 22, 2023July 22, 2023flyfishersplace

Many of you read and responded to my Lake update and I appreciate all of the remarks about protecting fish we intend to release and only fishing in responsible water temperatures. The good news is none of the main rivers we fish are showing any need for hoot owl protections (voluntarily or state imposed). Metolius, … Continue reading July 22 Rivers Report and Updates

Lakes update for the 1st of June

May 31, 2023flyfishersplace 2 Comments

East Lake is ok, seems to be in a bit of a turnover with murkier water, plus a lot of rainbows on the bank lines going through spawning motions. Water temps high 40’s to lower 50’s. Today we got all of our fish (around 12) on black balanced leeches. I think it’s good to fish, … Continue reading Lakes update for the 1st of June

August 14, 2022 Fishing Report and Observations

August 14, 2022August 14, 2022flyfishersplace 5 Comments

As many of you who read my fishing report weekly, or at least often, you know I focus a lot of my time on the lakes both for work and for play, and on the Metolius for my play time. This week I want to start by offering my own observations about the lakes. It … Continue reading August 14, 2022 Fishing Report and Observations

Fishing reports and updates 8/7/22

August 7, 2022August 7, 2022flyfishersplace 2 Comments

On Sunday mornings, I get 2 emails. One is from UPS and the other is from ODFW. The UPS email is our weekly invoice which indicates one of 2 things. How many mail orders we got last week, or how many broken rods we sent back to get repaired. The ODFW is of more interest, … Continue reading Fishing reports and updates 8/7/22

August 1st Rivers Update & Fishing Report

August 1, 2022August 1, 2022flyfishersplace

Good afternoon friends. The heat wave last week is breaking down a bit, it was a hot one, but the fishing held up well in a lot of places. Looks like this week is going to be low 90's and higher 80's in Sisters, so it should be good to find some cooler waters and … Continue reading August 1st Rivers Update & Fishing Report

Fishing Report for a hot week 7/25/2022

July 25, 2022July 25, 2022flyfishersplace 3 Comments

After a totally perfect Central Oregon weekend, it looks like we are going into a hot week around the Pacific NW, including here in Central Oregon. The heat is forecast to last all week, but hopefully subside next weekend. So where can someone go to find good water? Remember, once water temps get above 68, … Continue reading Fishing Report for a hot week 7/25/2022

June 9th fishing report and updates

July 9, 2022July 9, 2022flyfishersplace 2 Comments

Greetings from colorful Sisters, Oregon. Today is the annual quilt show and every building has multiple quilts hanging. It is a beautiful display of color and artistic talent these quilters put into each one of these works. For them to converge on this little Mountain town in Central Oregon is something we look forward to … Continue reading June 9th fishing report and updates

Good morning on this 1st morning of July. Summer has been really nice over the last couple of weeks. Not overly hot, that's for sure, with cool nights and mornings the waters around the region are in much better shape than last year at this time when we had that heat dome event over the … Continue reading 4th of July Fishing Report and updates
