Metolius River

The Metolius is just damn High and other info for 5/6/23

May 6, 2023May 6, 2023flyfishersplace

Who let the dogs out? Man oh man this low elevation snow really started to melt down the tributary creeks on the Metolius. Lake Creek is to the brim, Canyon and Candle Creeks are too. Today at the Allingham Gauge we are nearing 400 cfs and that is really high. The funny thing is, the … Continue reading The Metolius is just damn High and other info for 5/6/23

A rainy day update on water 5/4/23

May 4, 2023May 4, 2023flyfishersplace

We experienced a lot of rain in the last 12-18 hours, and I wanted to update you on water conditions so you can plan or cancel trips. Some of this is good, and some of this is not good for fishing conditions, but overall everything we get flowing down the drainages is good long term. … Continue reading A rainy day update on water 5/4/23

Fishing Report and water updates for 4/30/23

April 30, 2023April 30, 2023flyfishersplace 2 Comments

Things got a little hairy with water levels over the last few days, and honestly I was wrong in thinking we wouldn't see high water levels on some of our favorite rivers (Crooked and Lower D) because I thought we had the storage capacity to absorb the melt off. Well, the Crooked River is rolling … Continue reading Fishing Report and water updates for 4/30/23

Opening Weekend Fishing Report 4/23/23

April 23, 2023April 23, 2023flyfishersplace 2 Comments

It's kind of a weird "opening weekend" of fishing season this year because the only thing that really opened was the Lower Deschutes in the Warm Springs to Trout Creek run. The lakes and reservoirs that we are normally so excited for are still snowed in, and in many cases still iced over. I've lived … Continue reading Opening Weekend Fishing Report 4/23/23

Jeff’s Fishing Report April 15, 2023

April 15, 2023April 15, 2023flyfishersplace 3 Comments

Hopefully you're not sitting in the office or kitchen table doing your taxes this weekend! Fishing is way more fun, I think we'd all agree. I have a pretty juicy fishing report to share, and we have a lot to look forward to over the next week to 10 days!So let's make a short cast … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Report April 15, 2023

Jeff’s Fishing Report 4/8/23

April 8, 2023April 8, 2023flyfishersplace 3 Comments

I think spring is really trying to overcome winter. This is a good vs. evil scenario in my world. LOL. But there are certainly signs of spring on the water, including better hatches, and in some cases improving water levels. The Metolius is fishing pretty well. April historically is a funny month with some slowing … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Report 4/8/23

No April Fools in this fishing report 4/1/23

April 1, 2023April 1, 2023flyfishersplace

The transition from Winter to Spring in the Pacific NW, especially around Sisters has been a slow go this year. Our snowpack in the Deschutes/Crooked River basin is 139 percent, and my guess is that by Monday it will be near, or over 150% with the mountain snow forecast for the next 48 hours. This … Continue reading No April Fools in this fishing report 4/1/23

Jeff’s fishing report 3/25/2023

March 25, 2023March 25, 2023flyfishersplace 4 Comments

It seems like just yesterday I said March is coming in like a lion, yet here we are almost finished with March and it is still roaring. It is snowing here in Sisters this morning, which I will say we are all pretty tired of, but the snowpack totals are so much better in the … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 3/25/2023

Now....moving on to the regularly scheduled report:Good Evening from Sisters, Oregon. Jeff’s Fishing Report 3/11/23

March 11, 2023March 11, 2023flyfishersplace

Good morning from a sunny Sisters, Oregon. It is looking like a good fishing day! Sadly, I am scheduled to be in an all day Zoom for our Water Watch Board Meeting. I was supposed to go to the Albany Fly Tying Expo yesterday and then up to Portland last night for the meeting today, … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Report 3/11/23
