It's remarkable how fast things can happen in the high country. The water temps at Three Creeks are already mid 50's and the fish are really active. Damsel Nymphs, Wooly Buggers, FlashBack PT, Chironomids and Midge Adults, Adams and Beetles so far, but I would think Callibaetis are going to begin popping very soon now … Continue reading Three Creeks Lake fishing report 6/4/18
There isn't a lot of time left to enjoy 3 Creeks this season, as it gets cold at nearly 6500 feet. That being said, it is still fishing well and I just got a message from a friend who was on the lake today and had very good fishing using a Camo Line (intermediate) and … Continue reading Three Creeks Lake fishing report 9/29/17
Our guides have been working on 3 Creeks and finding good success on Callibaetis, Midges and Leeches. Smoke moves in and out from local fires but is usually less smokey than here in town. We've been enjoying late afternoon and evening fishing just wading the shoreline near the boat launch area but of course a … Continue reading 3 Creeks Lake still fishing well. 9/4/17
Access to Three Creeks is again open up the 16 road. There is a level 2 evacuation notice for the area but it is looking much safer than when I wrote last week as the fire is becoming more controlled and they seem to be getting a handle on it. We are excited to get … Continue reading Three Creeks Lake open 8/24/17
The Forest Fire burning west of Sisters is moving in the direction of Forest Road 16, which is the road to Three Creeks Lake from Sisters. The homes on Forest Road 16 are under level 3 mandatory evacuation. The Fire has not hit that area but it is threatening the area and could easily jump … Continue reading Three Creeks Lake Fire Update 8/19/17
3 Creeks is still holding up and ODFW supplemented with 1000 more rainbows last week which doesn't hurt anyone's chances of success up there. We've had good callibaetis hatches usually late afternoon about 2 to 4 but you might start seeing them earlier with the cooler nights. Evening action has been best with Callibaetis spinners … Continue reading 3 Creeks Lake fishing report 8/15/17
In the last few days I had a guide trip and a family day up there and fishing was very good both days. Mid Day, we trolled with Type 3 full sink lines and an Orange Bugger with a Red Chironomid or a Black Birds Nest with a Flashback PT. I saw good Callibaetis action … Continue reading Three Creeks Lake report 7/19/17
The road to the lake is now clear to the store and boat launch. Fishing is already good, Expect to see ODFW stocking it really soon now too! Callibaetis have begun to hatch. Ants and Beetles and Midges have also been great on the surface. Below the surface, fish Buggers, Leeches, Damsel Nymphs and PT's.
Still can't drive all the way but a tuber or someone willing to carry a light boat is good to go. Some callibaetis now hatching, lots of midges and terrestrials too. A bunch of the guys from the shop have been up and they say the fishing is already quite good.
Sunday we got a surprising report from a customer who walked in to 3 Creeks and had good fishing. Just to be sure, Jonathan and Thomas did it last night and sure enough it's a short walk over the last of the snow and the fishing is pretty good. You can't drive all the way … Continue reading Three Creeks Lake OPEN 6/14/17
