Crooked River report 7/31/15

July, what a month! It came in hot, and left hot but we had some cooler weather for a little bit in the middle. On the Crooked, with the water coming deep out of the bottom of the reservoir the water remains cold and flows are surprisingly normal.
We are getting a lot of great days of fishing on the Crooked. The PMD hatches are improving, bringing Rusty Spinner falls in the evening. Caddis are typically good late afternoons and evening. Zebra Midges and Scuds are a solid choice any day. We’ve even seen some fish up on Hoppers and have taken a number of trout mid-day on a Yellow Sally pattern I suspect the fish are taking for a small hopper but maybe they eat it for what it is?
Wonderful Tenkara or Czech nymphing opportunities to enjoy here. Broaden your fly fishing horizons and try a new technique.
