Clear Lake fishing report 8/1/17

IMG_4067.jpgOne of Oregon’s most beautiful mountain lakes is also one of the coldest water sources in the state. We love Clear Lake. Just 33 miles from Sisters the lake has a good population of wild brook trout and stocked rainbow trout.

We were up there last night again and the trout were feeding all evening on Midges. There were some brown caddis mixed in too and I caught one on a Brown CDC Elk Hair Caddis, but a Red Century Drive Midge was our best fly.

With the heat hitting Oregon hard, it is refreshingly cooler up there on the lake. Last evening I wore a sweatshirt and Tina ended up in her puffy.

We are a registered guide service for the Willamette National Forest and operate guide trips at Clear Lake Monday thru Friday if you would like to try it with us.
