The August doldrums have hit at the lake, with afternoon fishing turning tough, although evening fishing when the hatch gets going has remained good. The key is, go in the evening right now.
We are seeing black caddis, callibaetis and midges in the evening. Hopefully soon the Callibaetis will be back in the late morning or afternoon?
Leeches are always a good bet. Sheep Creek Special is good up there pretty much always. The fly’s I would focus on would be the Chartreuse Bead Olive leech trailed with a red ice cream cone, or a black leech trailed with a sheep creek special and work these on a full sinking line.
