August 17, 2024August 17, 2024flyfishersplace

Other than the predicted afternoon thunderstorm today, we are sitting pretty here in Central Oregon with the weather. We had a cold day on the lakes Thursday where we had to bundle up a bit, but the good news is the persistent heat wave has faded away and now we just have gorgeous fishing weather … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Updates August 17th, 2024

What a week we had at FFP. On Sunday we had 13 people here for Phil Rowley's Lake Fly Tying Seminar, then Phil and his friend Steve (now my friend too) and I went to Hosmer for a fishing day, then back to Sisters Tuesday to hear Phil present to 51 people highly interested in … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Report 8/10/2024

July 29, 2024flyfishersplace

Good news from the USFS this afternoon that the Upper Deschutes boat ramps and access areas we use are back open from the Wickiup Fire. Tenino and Bull Bend and Wyeth are all open. I wish on this cloudy and cool day I was drifting there now.

Middle Deschutes high water update 7/28/24

July 28, 2024flyfishersplace

This afternoon Central Oregon Irrigation District had to shut off a main canal for an emergency repair. The water levels on the Middle Deschutes came up quickly and the river turned brown . This will be temporary and will probably be back to normal in a few days or less. At this time I’d skip … Continue reading Middle Deschutes high water update 7/28/24

Greetings from Sisters, Oregon on this warm summer day. We have a lot to share this week, including many positive reports coming in from my sources around the local waters. A Metolius update from today 7/21/24

July 21, 2024flyfishersplace

With my up and down comment about fishing conditions (did I say “doldrums”, hahaha) I thought it would be fun to give you an update about how my friend Ron and I did today. We started about 9 and worked up from Allingham Bridge to Camp Sherman. For the most part it was good with … Continue reading A Metolius update from today 7/21/24

July 13, 2024July 13, 2024flyfishersplace

It is the Sisters Quilt Show today and we have been crazy busy! The hot days continue across Central Oregon, but it looks like the days over 100 degrees seem to be behind us for now. There is a lot of good fishing to talk about, but also some things that have slowed down, and … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Report 7/13/2024

Updated East Lake report 7/10/24

I’ve been lucky enough to get a lot of East Lake days over the past week. I moored my big boat at the Resort for a week and while 2 of my guide trips were rescheduled during the heat wave, today’s guide day was great, and full of news to share. Yesterday was hot and … Continue reading Updated East Lake report 7/10/24
