Fishing report and Metolius Clean Up Day UPDATES

August 23, 2023August 23, 2023flyfishersplace

A long day, but happy to be here after guiding all day, and then switching out the Koffler Drift Boat from a Hosmer Lake special (Minn Kota motor, lake size anchors, fish finder and a whole lotta lake tackle) to a Deschutes Boat for tomorrow. Tomorrow is my first of about 15 trips this Fall … Continue reading Fishing report and Metolius Clean Up Day UPDATES

Hot Week Fishing Report and Advice on how to handle it 8/14/2023

August 14, 2023August 14, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Hello from Neskowin, Oregon where we are beating the heat a bit. We came this way with intentions for fishing out of a dory in Pacific City today, but the ocean conditions are proving too rough for a comfortable trip out on the big pond, so there will be no fishing today. We will make … Continue reading Hot Week Fishing Report and Advice on how to handle it 8/14/2023

August 5th, 2023 fishing report

August 5, 2023August 5, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Good morning from Sisters, Oregon where we are having a gorgeous and not too hot, nor too smokey summer. Oh sure, a few hotter days here and there, and a couple of smokey days a while ago, but it's been awfully nice for the most part. And the fishing is going great overall throughout the … Continue reading August 5th, 2023 fishing report

Good morning from a bass pond near Wamic, Oregon. We took the weekend off from trout and joined our friends at their orchard near Mt Hood and we are catching largemouth bass and bluegill on poppers. Quite the departure from Euro Nymphs and PMD hatches I had earlier this week on the Metolius, and Callibaetis … Continue reading Fishing Report weekly updates 7/30/2023

July 22 Rivers Report and Updates

July 22, 2023July 22, 2023flyfishersplace

Many of you read and responded to my Lake update and I appreciate all of the remarks about protecting fish we intend to release and only fishing in responsible water temperatures. The good news is none of the main rivers we fish are showing any need for hoot owl protections (voluntarily or state imposed). Metolius, … Continue reading July 22 Rivers Report and Updates

Voluntary Hoot Owl on the Lakes/Watch H2O Temps

July 20, 2023July 20, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Hey gang, The lakes are starting the morning in the safe zone for water temps, but the afternoons may prove different so with the water temps, especially in the shallow zones so many of us like to fish and move if it gets above 68, or call it a day if you can't find new … Continue reading Voluntary Hoot Owl on the Lakes/Watch H2O Temps

Jeff’s fishing report July 14th, 2023

July 14, 2023July 14, 2023flyfishersplace 3 Comments

Sorry I missed last week. Not a lot of change from when I wrote the 4th of July report, but I just didn't have the time or the band width last week with a sick dog and some boat motor stuff to deal with. I am back with a new report and have a lot … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report July 14th, 2023

4th of July Week Fishing Report (7/1/23)

July 1, 2023July 1, 2023flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Summer finally arrived. I wore shorts for the 1st time while guiding this week, and didn't freeze my legs off when launching the boat. I love this time of year. And, best of all, the fishing is good in all the venues. The holiday weekend, and the upcoming Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show are busy times for … Continue reading 4th of July Week Fishing Report (7/1/23)

Rolling into the last week of June, with the 4th of the July on the near horizon makes me remember we are in the heart of the summer fishing season. Hopefully you are getting out there on the water and catching some fish. There are a lot of good things to report, but I do … Continue reading Fishing Reports and Updates for the last week in June 2023

ODFW Electroshocking the Crooked 6/20-22

June 20, 2023June 20, 2023flyfishersplace

Just a reminder that ODFW is electroshocking the Crooked River today, tomorrow and thursday (June 20-21-22, 2023) and in small sections from the Big Bend CG below the dam for the next few days the fishing will not be stunning. Ha. If they worked an area "yesterday" it will be good to fish tomorrow. By … Continue reading ODFW Electroshocking the Crooked 6/20-22
