if you've been in Central Oregon this week, you know how excited we are that as of yesterday the strong winds finally stopped blowing so damn hard. Oh my gosh, it was relentless from last saturday until wednesday night. And when we woke up yesterday morning, it was done. I wish I knew more about … Continue reading July 3rd, 2020 fishing report

It's hard to believe, but 4th of July is next saturday. This week will surely be busy on the waters as people are coming over to fish and camp on the rivers and lakes around Central Oregon. I've had quite a few people tell me they like the new format of the reports all being … Continue reading 4th of July week fishing report

June 20, 2020June 20, 2020flyfishersplace 4 Comments

This week I was lucky to spend 2 days on my own fishing the Metolius with Tina one day with friends, and guiding on the lakes the last 4 days. Lot's of time on the water and some good reports to share from me and the FFP guide staff. Starting locally, the Metolius has been … Continue reading First of Summer and Father’s Day Fishing Report 6/20/20

I had a very busy week guiding the lakes so I apologize for missing the friday afternoon updates. It'll be the same next week so I will shoot for saturday updates for a few weeks until my crazy June lake days are over. It's been fun, but I do miss the fly shop days and … Continue reading Fishing report 6/13/2020

Fishing Report June 5, 2020

June 5, 2020June 5, 2020flyfishersplace 1 Comment

I am sitting in the newly remodeled and expanded fly tying room in the fly shop, listening to the wind pick up and the skies darken as a front pushes in over the Cascades and into Central Oregon. Temperatures are going to drop 20 degrees from today to tomorrow. I know there will be some … Continue reading Fishing Report June 5, 2020

First off, be careful out there. Seems like people are getting the feeling we are out of the woods but this week Deschutes County had a spike in cases so we are diligent in mask wearing at the shop. Please wear one when you visit us. Fishing overall has been good. Here is the breakdown … Continue reading 2020 Memorial Weekend Fishing Report

Metolius River update 5/18/2020

May 18, 2020May 18, 2020flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Just a little update on Drakes, because they are coming off better and the fish are looking for them about 2. Even if the hatch isn't strong the trout want to eat them. The hatch is best above Candle Creek to Wizard Falls so far. It'll work up later. Also, good PMD's on the surface … Continue reading Metolius River update 5/18/2020

We just got good news from the BLM that the floating will open on 5/21/2020 from Warm Springs to Trout Creek and from Trout Creek to the Maupin Area. Harpham Flats and Sandy Beach will continue to be closed. At this time, we do not have confirmation that the tribal side of the river from … Continue reading Lower Deschutes Update 5/18/20
