Fall River fishing report 3/20/20

March 20, 2020March 20, 2020flyfishersplace 1 Comment

One thing to be aware of as you approach the Fall River is the State of Oregon has shut down access to the Fish Hatchery. Even though we as anglers are not visiting the hatchery grounds, you can't park there or access the water on the grounds. Bummer. The fishing otherwise is quite good, including … Continue reading Fall River fishing report 3/20/20

Crooked River fishing report 3/20/20

March 20, 2020March 20, 2020flyfishersplace

In short the fishing is very good. You'll find a good afternoon BWO hatch and some midges also bringing fish to the top throughout the day. The nymph action is red hot with Rainbow Warriors, Skinny Nelsons, Flashback PT's, Micro Mayfly and small Perdigons. All the way from MP 12, even some below there and … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 3/20/20

South Twin Lake fishing report 3/7/20

March 7, 2020March 7, 2020flyfishersplace

the shop crew headed up to South Twin this week for some early season lake fishing. It was a bear of a drive once we got past the head of the Fall River and gained just a little elevation. In fact, the road was horrible . SO, I'd give it another week to 10 days … Continue reading South Twin Lake fishing report 3/7/20

Chickahominy Reservoir report 3/7/20

March 7, 2020March 7, 2020flyfishersplace

Our first reports from way out east are coming in and the lake is thawed and the fish are biting. We are hearing Balanced Leeches. In the spring water boatman, leeches and likely some chironomids are the best bet at Chick. Watch the weather forecast. It is a long drive to get blown off the … Continue reading Chickahominy Reservoir report 3/7/20

Middle Deschutes Fishing Report 3/7/20

March 7, 2020March 7, 2020flyfishersplace 1 Comment

The water is still high, so approach carefully and wade with a lot of caution. Fishing is good. There are a few early March Browns hatching, a few Skwalas, some BWO's, some Caddis. Not much for dry fly action that we've heard of, but will be getting better and better. Remember, low water flows won't … Continue reading Middle Deschutes Fishing Report 3/7/20

Lower Deschutes Fishing Report 3/7/20

March 7, 2020March 7, 2020flyfishersplace

Don't forget all water adjacent to the Warm Springs Reservation are closed until 4/22/20. So no fishing at WS, Mecca, Trout Creek or South Jct. You need to get down below the reservation boundary and that means Maupin. From Maupin upstream to the Locked gate is our favorite. Stonefly nymphs, Soft Hackle PT, Hares Ear, … Continue reading Lower Deschutes Fishing Report 3/7/20

Crooked River Fishing Report 3/7/20

March 7, 2020March 7, 2020flyfishersplace

The fishing is so good on the Crooked now, with an afternoon BWO and Midge hatch bringing fish to the top, and great nymphing from the dam to about Mile Post 12. Skinny Nelson, 2 Bit Hooker, Micro May, Frenchie, Cased Caddis, Perdigons, Scuds and Zebra Midges are awesome at the moment. On top, #18 … Continue reading Crooked River Fishing Report 3/7/20

Fall River fishing report 3/7/20

March 7, 2020March 7, 2020flyfishersplace

Our guides and staff have been spending a lot of days on the Fall River lately and confirming the fishing is quite good. There is an afternoon BWO hatch, plus midges and some caddis and small winter stoneflies. The best fishing has been on heavy tungsten perditions and jigs, and zebra midges, 2 bit hookers, … Continue reading Fall River fishing report 3/7/20

Metolius River fishing report 3/7/20

March 7, 2020March 7, 2020flyfishersplace

we just got home from Argentina and I have been jealous hearing stories about good the Metolius has been since we left. March is an excellent month for the Metolius. The trend is always good in March with more hatches, more mature nymphs in the drift and longer and warmer days. BWO's, and lot's of … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 3/7/20

Lower Deschutes Maupin Area fishing report 2/18/20

February 18, 2020February 18, 2020flyfishersplace

The access road up from town to the locked gate is producing well on nymphs, with a little dry fly action on BWO's around noon on a lot of the days. Stonefly Nymphs have been excellent, and Green Perdigons, Soft Hackle PT's, Copper John, Sparkle Pupa and Walts Worms have been the ticket. We are … Continue reading Lower Deschutes Maupin Area fishing report 2/18/20
