Fall River fishing report 2/18/20

February 18, 2020February 18, 2020flyfishersplace

There are good afternoon hatches of BWO's, plus small black stoneflies and midges from about 10 am to 4 or 5 PM. Look for some #18-20 rusty or olive cdc spinners just at dusk too on these warmer days we've been enjoying. One big tip on the dry flies is to fish 7x and focus … Continue reading Fall River fishing report 2/18/20

Metolius River fishing report 2/18/20

February 18, 2020February 18, 2020flyfishersplace

Afternoon dry hatches of BWO's continue to hatch around noon to 2, most hatch durations are 30 to 45 minutes during that 2 hour block. Sparkle Dun and EP Duns have been our go to lately, but you know there a ton of great mayfly patterns for the Met and the fish can get choosey. … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 2/18/20

Lower Deschutes fishing report 1/31/20

January 31, 2020flyfishersplace

Remember the area adjacent to the Warm Springs Reservation is closed (both sides of the river) until April 22nd. So, no fishing at WS, Mecca, Trout Creek or South Jct. But...the Maupin area up to the Locked Gate area and down stream towards Mack's is a great bet now on BWO's and especially good nymphing. … Continue reading Lower Deschutes fishing report 1/31/20

Crooked River fishing report 1/31/20

January 31, 2020flyfishersplace

great flows, pretty warm days and good fishing is what you'll find on the Crooked. Usually this time of year is all midges (nymphs and dries) but we have seen some light BWO hatches bringing fish up too in the last week to 10 days.

Metolius River Fishing Report 1/31/20

January 31, 2020flyfishersplace

Fishing has been the best I can ever remember on the Metolius for January. I expect this trend to continue in to February as long as the weather pattern doesn't hit us with an arctic blast or a huge pineapple express that could flood the tributaries. Each afternoon about noon to 2 we've seen good … Continue reading Metolius River Fishing Report 1/31/20

Fall River fishing report 1/30/2020

January 31, 2020flyfishersplace

With all the good weather we've been seeing very good fishing all over Central Oregon and Fall River has been one of the best. Afternoon BWO's, Midges and little black stoneflies are bringing fish up, remember your 7x though! Heard a gal at the 50/50 movie in Bend said she was getting them on Chubbies … Continue reading Fall River fishing report 1/30/2020

Central Oregon fishing overview 1/14/2020

January 14, 2020flyfishersplace

Happy New Years to our friends out there. Some of you are fishing and some of us have stayed home because of the weather this last week or more. My first fish of the new year was a nice blue fin trevally in North Kehei on Maui, caught on the low afternoon tide on a … Continue reading Central Oregon fishing overview 1/14/2020

Crooked River report 12/16/19

December 16, 2019flyfishersplace

We Wish you a Merry Chris-Midge, We Wish you a Merry Chris-Midge, We Wish you a Merry Chris-Midge and BWO New Year. Its midge time on the Crooked. Fish are eating the small stuff so bring your midge box and your 7x. Scuds, Eggs, Skinny Nelson, Micro Mayfly and Hell Razor Leeches are working too. … Continue reading Crooked River report 12/16/19

Metolius River Fishing report 12/16/19

December 16, 2019flyfishersplace

Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the river, creatures were stirring, even Mr. Bull Trout. The streamers were tied each night, sitting by the stove, in hopes that a Bull Trout would soon light our fire. The anglers were nestled all snug in their beds, with visions of big fish dancing in their … Continue reading Metolius River Fishing report 12/16/19

Crooked River fishing report 12/7/19

December 7, 2019flyfishersplace

The Crooked is fishing fair to good, with stable flow and not to cold in the canyon over there. It's mostly midges now, nymphs, emerging pupa and adults, along with scuds, eggs and small BWO nymphs. On days that get into the 40's it's worth staying to about 4 or so and getting into a … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 12/7/19
