Happy Labor Day Weekend. I know a lot of you are hiding out for a few days, waiting for the Holiday to pass by, and some of you are reading this right now preparing for some immediate fishing, tying flies and organizing gear. I am hiding out in the back room of the shop right … Continue reading Sept 5, 2020 Fishing Report

the bell is ringing that summer is quickly coming to an end for me. Today was the last summer class I taught at Black Butte Ranch for the year and it is dark at 8 PM. Days of fishing the streams until 9:45 and squeezing a 6x tippet through a #16 rusty spinner at 9:15 … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 8/29/20

it's been a little unsettling this week with the Green Ridge Fire that started above the Metolius with a bolt of lightning on Sunday evening. The Metolius is our favorite river (my favorite in all the world) and is our home waters. When a fire is so close it makes us all a little uneasy. … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 8/22/20

Hello to all. What an amazing week it was around here, with perfect summer weather and good fishing. I was able to fish for myself a few days on the Lower Deschutes, Crane Prairie and the Metolius as well as go hiking in the Sisters and Mountain Biking in the Lake Creek Preserve. My head … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing update 8/15/20

Weekly fishing update 8/8/20

Happy Saturday! I just got back to the shop from teaching our weekly fly casting lesson at Black Butte. It was a great turnout today, and one of the things that made my heart happy was how many young women and kids attended with the intentions of becoming fly anglers. We have been teaching the … Continue reading Weekly fishing update 8/8/20

It's just been 4 days since the last report, but I wanted to get some information out today before I am out on the water again everyday next week. I'll start this weeks fishing report with a plea to help protect trout as we are in a bit of a prolonged heat wave. Today is a good day to discuss water temperatures and what is safe for our trout. Overall, we are so lucky to have so much cold water in our rivers and … Continue reading Fishing Report 7/28/2020

Fishing Report 7/18/2020

July 18, 2020July 18, 2020flyfishersplace

It was a good week around Sisters and Central Oregon. I practiced what I preached in previous reports and tried 2 new places this week, which has inspired me to plan to try 3 more new things in the coming weeks. I hadn't fished Paulina Lake since I was a little kid. In fact, I … Continue reading Fishing Report 7/18/2020

Happy saturday everyone. I hope you are all staying safe and finding some time on the water. I had 2 days on the lake guiding, and 2 days on the Metolius fishing by myself this week. Interesting, and full of discovery and a dose of hard reality mixed in for me and my clients. Fishing … Continue reading July 11th Fishing Report
