I just talked to a friend of mine who caught 2 steelhead this week. That is excellent news as the counts look pretty poor so far up the Columbia. Our guides are doing well on trout on the Warm Springs drift using ESN techniques and also indicators. Some of the action is also coming by … Continue reading Lower Deschutes report 8/24/19

FFP guides are busy on the Lower Deschutes and finding very fun fishing with Caddis, PMD's and Purple Haze. Our crew is hitting it hard with the Euro Nymphing techniques and doing well, but there are spots a good ol' indicator rig will serve you quite well.

Euro Nymphing during the day and Dry Fly fishing in the evening has been out MO this week. The wind was a bit tough for a couple of days this week but it looks like the weather is going to be hot and steady for the upcoming week which to me says caddis are going … Continue reading Lower Deschutes fishing report 7/20/19

we love July on the lower D with Caddis, Pale Evening Dun and PMD hatches. Our FFP guides have been having great days down there, typically nymphing during the day and hitting the dries as the sun goes off the water.

the guides are coming back all smiles and keep grabbing caddis to restock their boxes. PMD's and Pale Evening duns are also bringing up fish for the dry fly. Never leave home without a Purple Haze on the D. Nymphing has been great, both indicator and euro.

Caddis, Caddis and more Caddis this week. Fun stuff with the X Caddis, CDC Caddis, Iris, Elk Hair and E/C's. Also, getting a ton of action on the Tan Sparkle Pupa's throughout the day prior to the hatch. PMD's and Pale Evening Duns have been hatching well too, and there have been some good spinner … Continue reading Lower Deschutes fishing report 6/15/19

Well, there are a few straggler stones around but it looks like we can call it a wrap on the 2019 stonefly season and move on to Caddis and Small Mayflies for the rest of the summer. We've been hitting the caddis hard and seeing increasing numbers of PMD's each week. Pale Evening Duns at … Continue reading Lower Deschutes Fishing Report 6/10/19

Salmonfly's and Goldenstones are still the hot hatch. I think we will see them for at least another week, maybe even 10 more days of good action with the big flies. Caddis and PMD hatches also are getting strong, and with that Caddis Pupa and Micro Mayfly Nymphs are pretty darn great. Fishing is definitely … Continue reading Lower Deschutes Fishing Report 5/29/19
