Central Oregon Fishing Report 5/8/2020

May 8, 2020May 8, 2020flyfishersplace 5 Comments

Plenty of exciting things to report and talk about this week in our report. As you know, we love East Lake so it is exciting to report the road to Paulina and East Lake opened today (5/8/20) and access is open. More on that below. Salmonflies are all over the Deschutes from Maupin to Bend. … Continue reading Central Oregon Fishing Report 5/8/2020

I am going to summarize all the waters in this one report, making it easy to read and get info quickly. Overall the fishing in Central Oregon is good. Lakes and Rivers. So here … Continue reading May 1st (2020) Fishing Report

Opening Day Fishing Report for 2020

April 21, 2020April 21, 2020flyfishersplace 2 Comments

Well, it is going to be a weird opener for trout season in 2020. Everything is a bit weird now, so we go with the flow. I know a lot of us are excited to see the lakes opening up.I just spoke with my Special Use Coordinator at the Bend Office of USFS, and he … Continue reading Opening Day Fishing Report for 2020

Deschutes River fishing report 3/20/20

March 20, 2020March 20, 2020flyfishersplace

The Middle Deschutes is running 427 cfs out of Bend, so after Tumalo Creek comes in it'll be a bit higher from Tumalo State Park to Lake Billy Chinook. That is high'ish, but certainly fishable. Careful access can provide very good fishing now. March Browns are on. Of course there will be some BWO's, a … Continue reading Deschutes River fishing report 3/20/20

Lower Deschutes Fishing Report 3/7/20

March 7, 2020March 7, 2020flyfishersplace

Don't forget all water adjacent to the Warm Springs Reservation are closed until 4/22/20. So no fishing at WS, Mecca, Trout Creek or South Jct. You need to get down below the reservation boundary and that means Maupin. From Maupin upstream to the Locked gate is our favorite. Stonefly nymphs, Soft Hackle PT, Hares Ear, … Continue reading Lower Deschutes Fishing Report 3/7/20

Lower Deschutes Maupin Area fishing report 2/18/20

February 18, 2020February 18, 2020flyfishersplace

The access road up from town to the locked gate is producing well on nymphs, with a little dry fly action on BWO's around noon on a lot of the days. Stonefly Nymphs have been excellent, and Green Perdigons, Soft Hackle PT's, Copper John, Sparkle Pupa and Walts Worms have been the ticket. We are … Continue reading Lower Deschutes Maupin Area fishing report 2/18/20

Lower Deschutes fishing report 1/31/20

January 31, 2020flyfishersplace

Remember the area adjacent to the Warm Springs Reservation is closed (both sides of the river) until April 22nd. So, no fishing at WS, Mecca, Trout Creek or South Jct. But...the Maupin area up to the Locked Gate area and down stream towards Mack's is a great bet now on BWO's and especially good nymphing. … Continue reading Lower Deschutes fishing report 1/31/20

Lower Deschutes fishing report 11/22/19

November 22, 2019flyfishersplace

We are still guiding the Lower D (and the McKenzie) for the fall. The Warm Springs to Trout Creek drift is fishing well for trout and certainly has some steelhead opportunities too on both the swung fly and on nymphs. Mecca and Trout Creek and the WS boat launch area are all good drive to … Continue reading Lower Deschutes fishing report 11/22/19

Lower Deschutes River fishing report 11/1/19

October 31, 2019flyfishersplace

The report guy is going fishing in Cuba 11/1 to 11/14 so unless the weather gets crazy this report should hold up until he is back. The water temps plummeted into the 40's from the comfortable 50's earlier this week and turned the fishing a little slow for a few days. Up to that point … Continue reading Lower Deschutes River fishing report 11/1/19

Lower Deschutes River fishing report 10/23/19

October 23, 2019flyfishersplace

Sorry for the delayed report, the report guy had to go in for emergency surgery and wasn't energetic enough to get his Sh*t together. The FFP guides have been having a lot of good days on the Warm Spring to Trout Creek run. The crew are finding some steelhead and plenty of trout. Travis even … Continue reading Lower Deschutes River fishing report 10/23/19
