Metolius River 6/19/15

I think it’s been the best June in a long time. Really decent drake hatches, and even if the hatch is so-so the fish want to eat them late afternoon.
PMD’s have been good too which results in good rusty spinner falls each evening.
I saw some good caddis hatches this week from about 7 to 8 PM, with fish actively taking emerging pupa at the surface.
Reports are coming in that golden stones are coming off in the upper river by lake creek and are crawling in the bushes!
Nymphing is good. Golden Stones with a carotene, red copper john, hares ear, soft hackle PT, 2 bit hooker and micro mayflies.
Bull Trout fishing is not that great. A few around but inconsistent.
