Crooked River report 8/15/16

Water is a touch high, running at just over 300 which is flushing and moving a lot of moss through the river. Nymphers will be cleaning their flies often. Dry fly anglers not as much.

Best fishing is in the late afternoon and evening. PMD’s, BWO’s, small Caddis, Renegade, Purple Haze and Rusty Spinners are all good on the top.

Recommend using a NZ Wool Indicator or Loon Yarn Strike Indicator. The fish are eating soft and a “Ball” type indicator just doesn’t show takes nearly as well.

Small Midge Nymphs, Mayfly Nymphs and Scuds or Sowbug imitations are working with added split shot to get down.

I’ve had reports of guys catching a few fish on Wooly Buggers (black mostly).
