FREE fishing clinics with Jeff

Jeff tying the Mop
Even though it is still mid-winter, we are moving towards spring, and for most of us we are thankful the Holidays have passed! So, between a little cabin fever and the fact it’s been a warm winter so far, you might be dreaming of great days on the water in the near future.
Jeff Perin at The Fly Fisher’s Place is hosting three FREE clinics focusing on improving your fishing on the Cascade Lakes, the Metolius, and the Crooked River.

Jeff will offer free clinics Wednesday Jan 24, 31, and Feb 7th at the shop.
Fishing Clinics Schedule:
Wednesdays from 530–630 at the Fly Fisher’s Place in Sisters on the following dates.
- Wed, January 24th — Cascade Lakes
- Wed, January 31st — The Metolius

We will provide beer and appetizers at each event.
Stop on by and enjoy some fishing talk and advice with Jeff and get out of the house and start dreaming of the season to come.
Welcome to Travis Lucas
The Fly Fisher’s Place welcomes Travis Lucas to the retail and guiding team.
We are very excited to be working with Travis, who years ago started his guide career under the tutelage of Steelhead Joe. Back then Travis was working as a World Cup Mountain Bike Mechanic traveling Europe with one of the USA’s best racers, and running a Bike Shop in Bend, and guiding part time when summers got crazy on the rivers for us.
Travis had a dream to be full time in the fly fishing business and took the leap a couple of years ago. An opportunity came up in December to get Travis back to The Fly Fisher’s Place where he will be our primary retail sales associate and will be guiding and teaching throughout the spring, summer, and fall months as well.
Travis is not only an expert with a spey rod, he has a lot of experience with trout, bass and steelhead from the Coast to Eastern Oregon. Travis is a great casting instructor with the 2 hand rods and is extremely knowledgeable with all the modern fly fishing equipment.
Jeff Perin, owner of The Fly Fisher’s Place says one of the things he loves most about Travis is that Travis is such a good hearted and kind person. Travis is amongst the most trustworthy guys with the most amount of integrity I’ve ever been around in business or in life. Jeff says he always tries his best to fill FFP with good people and adding Travis to the staff adds a lot to our team here.
Next time you visit FFP be sure to say hello to Travis.
2018 Guide Trip Bookings
Deschutes
May dates for Multi-Day Deschutes trips are filling up quickly, but single day Salmonfly dates are still fairly open. It would be a good idea to call now and get booked for May dates if you want to be assured time on the water with the FFP guides.
Cascade Lakes with Jeff

Cascade Lakes with Jeff.
Jeff’s lake trips are again very popular and if you want to get on the lakes with Jeff, please call and book soon. There is no question these are popular trips and for good reason. Great fishing, great equipment, and prime waters to choose make fishing with Jeff one of the best trips of the year.
The McKenzie is looking great

Getting it done on the McKenzie.
Last season FFP guides did more and more trips on the McKenzie. One of the reasons for this was it was fishing incredibly well. Steve Erickson and Jay Kennedy, both long time McKenzie guides were really impressed with the catch rates of both wild and hatchery reared rainbows on our trips all season long. Some of the attractive things a lot of our guests see in the McKenzie is people are allowed to fish from the boat and the days are shorter than doing a Lower Deschutes float. People love both of those things.
Crooked River outlook 2018

Crooked River, Oregon
Our Crooked River day trips, including our popular Fly Fishing Schools are another to plan for in 2018. We think (hope!) that this spring should see no runoff below the Bowman Dam due to low snowpack in the Ochocco Mountains. Time will tell, but the snow pack has a lot of catching up to do, so our guess is we will have great BWO hatches and great fishing as early as March this year, so think about an early trip during Spring Break and get out and fish with us.
Questions, comments, want more info? Give us a call at (541) 549-3474 or fill out the form!
The free clinic is awesome and hoping a wonderful spring.
