Middle Deschutes 5/1/19

The water is down a lot, but still a little high at just over 200 cfs. 140 is pretty standard summer flow. March Brown hatches are very good and there are a lot of Caddis and some BWO’s and the 1st of PMD’s out already. This basically means a March Browns, Purple Haze, Yellow Sparkle Dun and X Caddis are going to be your best 4 hatch matchers, and a Renegade is super as an attractor. Renegades are a LONG TIME FFP favorite for the Middle river.

Salmonflies should be out by next week in the lower stretches by Steelhead Falls with the hatch moving up towards Bend and the Inn of the 7th Mountain in a couple of weeks.

Nymphing and swinging sculpins is good stuff for sure. But the focus now is on the hatch. Fun!
