It’s been a long wait but it appears that runoff is over and now, water levels below Bowman Dam on the Crooked River are at summer flows and fishing is going to ramp up.
We are excited about this! And it should correspond to the Mother’s Day Caddis hatch which ought to see a ton of Caddis hatching for the next 2 weeks.
Water clarity might be off for quite some time, so nymphs would be best to have a fluorescent bead or a hot spot or some flash.
Hooray hooray.
Also, the McKenzie and Lower Deschutes and the Metolius have all dropped a bunch this week.
Water clarity? It’s straight chocolate brown! Fishing was Outstanding on dries. Huge hatches, hungry fish that were surfacing non-stop.
