Metolius River

Metolius River report 3/17/17

March 17, 2017flyfishersplace

The Met is pretty darn high. I have not been fishing it but I get reports pretty much every day and even with the high water people are catching fish. Big Golden Stone nymphs have been producing fish. Look, the water is changing every day. It is tough to say what it will be like … Continue reading Metolius River report 3/17/17

Metolius River fishing report 3/13/17

March 13, 2017flyfishersplace

The water is a little high and slightly off color from runoff. Fishing conditions from Allingham to Gorge are the best, once you get below Jack Creek and Canyon Creek the river gets rolling pretty good. One thing we've seen over the years though is that the Bull Trout bite well and move to the … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 3/13/17

Metolius River fishing report 2/15/17

February 15, 2017flyfishersplace

I've been in Chile for the last 12 days so I am getting updates from friends and family on how fishing has been in the area, and it seems like the Metolius is by far the best option of any of the local rivers right now. There are afternoon hatch of BWO's, quite a few … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 2/15/17

Metolius River fishing report 2/1/17

February 1, 2017flyfishersplace

We had a skiff of fresh snow overnight and they are saying maybe another 6 to 8 inches coming for the rest of the week. This doesn't make it any easier to get around in an already really snowy place. Next week looks warmer and with some rain moving through I'm hopeful it will help … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 2/1/17

Metolius River fishing report

January 18, 2017flyfishersplace

The Metolius has been fishing well this month despite challenging weather and road conditions. Access is pretty limited to the Allingham Bridge area and the fish hatchery. It got warm and it rained here yesterday and overnight with a little more on the way. I am watching the gauge but so far the river has … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report

Metolius River fishing report 12/28/16

December 28, 2016flyfishersplace

Come get it while it's good! Pretty active afternoon baetis hatches the last few days and very good nymphing for trout and whitefish for the last week or so. Golden Stone Nymphs, Depth Charge Nymphs, 2 Bit's, Caddis Pupa, Zebra Midges, Eggs, Blue Prince, Batman and Red Lightning Bug. Bull Trout are active and are … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 12/28/16

Metolius River fishing report 12/13/16

December 13, 2016flyfishersplace

Sorry for the delay since the last report, I went to New Zealand to go fishing and was away from the computer. Overall, even with the cold weather the fishing has held up pretty well. Bull Trout fishing is good and nymphing for trout also good. There have been a few BWO hatches in the … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 12/13/16

Metolius Fishing Report 11/22/16

November 22, 2016flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Still holding up on the afternoon Mayfly hatches, although it looks like its pretty solid on only BWO's now, the other stuff has faded away. Tis the season of course. Plenty of small caddis and larger October Caddis out too. I had a friend who did well the other day on an IRIS Caddis. Nymphing … Continue reading Metolius Fishing Report 11/22/16

Metolius River fishing report 11/12/16

November 12, 2016flyfishersplace 2 Comments

Dry Fly fishing is better than average for November with the mostly good weather we've been having. Plenty of BWO's, Cinygmula's, Caddis and even a few straggler PMD's to bring fish up. Red Copper John and Tan Caddis Pupa's have been really productive on the Nymph side. I also really like a Blue Prince or … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 11/12/16

Metolius River fishing report 10/21/16

October 21, 2016flyfishersplace

Dry Fly action in the afternoon is great. Plenty of BWO's and PMD's to keep the fish looking up. There have been some mahogany duns mixed in and I have had a report of a few Green Drakes still but really, these guys should be done by now so I wouldn't get to excited for … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 10/21/16
