Metolius River fishing report 10/21/16

October 21, 2016flyfishersplace

Dry Fly action in the afternoon is great. Plenty of BWO's and PMD's to keep the fish looking up. There have been some mahogany duns mixed in and I have had a report of a few Green Drakes still but really, these guys should be done by now so I wouldn't get to excited for … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 10/21/16

Metolius River fishing report 10/6/16

October 6, 2016flyfishersplace

WOW, this week is dang good. PMD's are hatching like it's 1999 and you don't need a "Prince" nymph to catch them. Along with the PMD' are Baetis, Mahogany Duns, a few late Flav's and Drakes (but not many!) and a lot of caddis mixed in. October Caddis Pupa have been good on the nymph … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 10/6/16

Metolius River fishing report 9/23/16

September 23, 2016flyfishersplace

Green Drakes are really coming off well this week, and we expect next week to be a great week with the warm weather coming back. We are also seeing good PMD, BWO, Mahogany Dun and Flav mayfly hatches. Caddis, including Oct Caddis are hatching well, and a small olive iris caddis and a CDC pattern … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 9/23/16

I love the September report because there is so much to talk about. So, here's the best news....the Fall Drakes and Flav's are hatching. The best part of September as far as I am concerned. Other mayflies to expect are PMD's, Baetis and Mahogany Duns. The Stonefly hatch is strong with the Little Olive Stone … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 9/6/16

This week in the upper river was the best golden stone action we've seen so far. The golden's are now hatching farther down river too, so even near the hatchery and especially in the canyon expect to see these big guys around. Willow Flies and a few mixed Salmonfly's are the biggest stones you'll run … Continue reading Metolius fishing report 8/26/16

Metolius River fishing report 8/15/16

August 15, 2016flyfishersplace

Nymphing has been very good throughout the day. Frenchies, Zebra Midges, Jigs, CDC PT, CDC Hares Ear, 2 Bit Hooker and Micro Mayfly. Plus, as always Golden Stones! Dry Fly Fishing is good, the PMD and BWO hatches have been good. There is a Flav looking mayfly coming off about 2 in the mid-river. They … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 8/15/16

Metolius fishing report 8/3/16

August 3, 2016flyfishersplace

Fishing is good, with Golden Stone dries and nymphs being dominate in the upper river from the Gorge up to the Headwaters area. Zebra Midges, Euro Jigs, 2 Bit Hookers and Frenchies continue to be excellent now. PMD hatches are running late in the afternoon for the most part. Usually in the 3 to 4 … Continue reading Metolius fishing report 8/3/16

Metolius River fishing report 6/26/16

July 26, 2016flyfishersplace

Pretty good PMD hatches at some point in the day, usually about 4 PM but could be noon or 8 PM so be ready. BWO hatches in the evening have continues to be good in the hatchery area. Caddis are most strong in the evening with emerging patterns like IRIS caddis and Missing Link Caddis … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 6/26/16

Metolius River fishing report 7/19/16

July 19, 2016flyfishersplace

Golden Stones are best in the section from around Tract C down to Allingham with bugs showing down to Gorge. I had a good report of Salmonflies a few miles below Bridge 99. That makes sense with timing, we usually see them around Wizard Falls in early August so they are moving up the river. … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 7/19/16

Metolius River Fishing Report 7/8/16

July 8, 2016flyfishersplace

Cooler and occasionally wet weather has settled onCentral Oregon for a few days. It rained late afternoon yesterday and again today and looks like this showery pattern will be with us until Sunday. This is a good thing. PMD hatches are strong, and we have seen good Baetis hatches too. Golden Stones get a little … Continue reading Metolius River Fishing Report 7/8/16
