June 24, 2022June 24, 2022flyfishersplace

With lot's of good fishing to report, we are now seeing high 70's, glorious 80's and even some low 90's for a few days over the weekend. Great fishing weather and a welcome pattern for us. It's hard to believe last week I had 2 postponed trips due to high winds and snow, and just … Continue reading 6/24/22 Fishing Report and it happens every year

An exciting fishing report 5/21/2022

May 21, 2022May 21, 2022flyfishersplace

Here we are, May 21st and it's been a weird start to the fishing season since April. Mostly due to snow up in the lakes and wind and cold weather down on the rivers. Is that about to change? For a while it looks like and that is why I think this is going to … Continue reading An exciting fishing report 5/21/2022

Opening Day “Crystal Ball” projections 4/22/22

April 21, 2022April 22, 2022flyfishersplace

I don't actually have a Crystal Ball. Damnit. Opening day for so many of us is kind of like Christmas. It's a gift. A change of season. A day to begin a season with a lot to look forward to. With the gift Mother Nature has given over the last two weeks, it is clear … Continue reading Opening Day “Crystal Ball” projections 4/22/22

Fishing update 6/25/2021

June 25, 2021flyfishersplace

I took the day off the lakes today, concerned for the fish in the heat. So let’s start talking about the major heat wave hitting the the region now, and what’s safe for fishing and what we ought to leave alone until we see a cool down. I’m quite concerned for the fish in Crane … Continue reading Fishing update 6/25/2021

Fishing Updates 5/14/2021

May 14, 2021May 14, 2021flyfishersplace

The Metolius is starting to see better Green Drake hatches, and even if you don’t see a lot of naturals, between 2 and 5 look for splashy takes and fish that water with an emerger or dun.  The Green Drakes will be in full swing by the end of the month but are already off to … Continue reading Fishing Updates 5/14/2021

It’s been a week of great fishing around the region, with exciting improvements on the local waters we are excited to share with you. The Metolius is really revving up now, with more and more hatches, and hatches that will be here to stay for the Summer season! Green Drake action is spotty yet, but if … Continue reading Fishing Updates 5/7/2021

Fishing update 5/1/2021

May 1, 2021May 1, 2021flyfishersplace 1 Comment

I don't know about you, but May is my month. OK, it's really the start of my favorite stretch of months because it just screams prime fishing season has arrived, and it is so full of hope. May brings water temperatures that influence the metabolic rate of the trout we are pursuing. Water temps above … Continue reading Fishing update 5/1/2021

April 24 Fishing Update

April 24, 2021April 24, 2021flyfishersplace 4 Comments

Good morning! It is cold here in Sisters again for a few days. There is a little snow coming in on the mountains and maybe some spits of snow and rain in and around the area. I know the river conditions are going to be good, and we should see some good hatches and overall … Continue reading April 24 Fishing Update

Fishing update 4/10/21

April 10, 2021April 10, 2021flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Today is a cold and windy day across the region, and a reminder that spring is a transitional time. We win and we lose when it comes to the weather, but winning on the fishing more and more. It was so windy down on the Metolius this morning there were some trees down. And snowflakes … Continue reading Fishing update 4/10/21
