Metolius River fishing report 12/7/19

December 7, 2019flyfishersplace

We've been seeing an afternoon hatch of mostly BWO's, but a couple of days ago there were some small yellow stoneflies, some grey caddis and some straggler cinygmula's hatching. Fish were rising to the BWO's mostly, but there were a few crushing rise forms that indicated maybe there were a few fish eating the stones. … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 12/7/19

Fall River fishing report 12/7/19

December 7, 2019flyfishersplace

The warmer weather has been much better for access down south, but still expect a fair bit of snow on the banks along the river and some limited access to the tubes/falls with 4x4. Midges and BWO have been the primary hatches and there have been good days of dry fly fishing. Nymphing has been … Continue reading Fall River fishing report 12/7/19

Central Oregon fishing (or not) 11/26/19

November 26, 2019flyfishersplace

Well, the weather moved in on us pretty hard today, it is snowing and blowing outside of the shop here in Downtown Sisters, OR. Just had a customer in from the Metolius, he said it was beautiful and quiet out there with the new snow, and that he caught a few rainbows but no Bulls. … Continue reading Central Oregon fishing (or not) 11/26/19

Lower Deschutes fishing report 11/22/19

November 22, 2019flyfishersplace

We are still guiding the Lower D (and the McKenzie) for the fall. The Warm Springs to Trout Creek drift is fishing well for trout and certainly has some steelhead opportunities too on both the swung fly and on nymphs. Mecca and Trout Creek and the WS boat launch area are all good drive to … Continue reading Lower Deschutes fishing report 11/22/19

Crooked River fishing report 11/22/19

November 22, 2019flyfishersplace

The flows are nice for winter at 93 cfs. We've seen it much lower and that can be a negative for the fishing. 93 gives the fish and the insects some cover and comfort and is enough flow that it won't freeze over as easily unless we get a bad arctic system. All good news. … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 11/22/19

Metolius River fishing report 11/22/19

November 22, 2019flyfishersplace

I got home from Cuba and headed to the Metolius two days later. My favorite place in the world to fish and just be! We weren't disappointed with the afternoon hatch that was a mix of BWO and Cinygmula about 1 in the afternoon. Fish were coming up to emergers and we got fish on … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 11/22/19

Fall River fishing report 11/22/19

November 22, 2019flyfishersplace

the trend at Fall River continues to be good, although we do hear from some customers that the catching is slow some days, overall we've experienced very good catch rates on dries during the afternoon BWO hatches and on Jigs, Eggs, Perdigons, 2 Bit Hookers, Micro Mayfly's and Zebra Midges when they aren't coming up. … Continue reading Fall River fishing report 11/22/19

Lower Deschutes River fishing report 11/1/19

October 31, 2019flyfishersplace

The report guy is going fishing in Cuba 11/1 to 11/14 so unless the weather gets crazy this report should hold up until he is back. The water temps plummeted into the 40's from the comfortable 50's earlier this week and turned the fishing a little slow for a few days. Up to that point … Continue reading Lower Deschutes River fishing report 11/1/19

Crooked River fishing report 11/1/19

October 31, 2019flyfishersplace

The report guy is going fishing in Cuba 11/1 to 11/14 so unless the weather gets crazy this report should hold up until he is back. Nymphing has been productive on the river, with perdigons and small mayfly nymphs taking a lot of trout and whitefish. Zebra Midges, Thread Midges, Winklers, Avengers, Ray Charles and … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 11/1/19

Metolius River fishing report 11/1/19

October 31, 2019flyfishersplace

The report guy is going fishing in Cuba 11/1 to 11/14 so unless the weather gets crazy this report should hold up until he is back. Yesterdays dry fly action was again really impressive after the cold snap earlier in the week. All it took was another warm day to get the hatches rolling well … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 11/1/19
